Hallelujah! I love this thread and all who are posting things. Opening your hearts to what you feel and believe to share with others is so sweet. Very brave thing in itself because of the sensitive subject matter. Which really shouldn't be because well, it just shouldn't be. Reggie I'm going to go look on the net for Red writing. I'm glad you got some books! yay!

I could be wrong......but this is what I believe. I believe sin is sin in God's eyes. I think God doesn't say, "Hey, John over there has a sin of pride and it's not all that noticable so I'll just overlook that one. See Betty over the other side, well she committed a felony and it made all the papers and people sucked their teeth and gossiped about her so hers is the worst of the two sins." And the wonderful thing is God forgives us our sins. Another thing I believe is if I harbor hatred in my heart, I believe I'm sinning just as much as the person who lashes out physically and receives consequenses here on earth. My daddy was a stinker, but he did teach me one very valuable lesson. When I was a little girl, I saw him treat a retarted neighbor with the same respect he treated his friends who were college professors. He was just as excited introducing me to an elderly man who was a son of slaves and had no formal education as he was introducing me to Dr. Martin Luther King. He said that he could learn some valuable lesson from everyone and never judge people. Reg, don't you ever think of yourself as less than anyone else because of your past experience. I rather have you for a friend than any "perfect" look down her nose at people woman any day.

Ok, now I'm crying MotherJ, but good tears. Thank you. There is such a stigma that comes with being a convicted felon. Most people don't even know I did time. It's such a secret..........and for so long I was so ashamed of it. I'm not so much now, I know I'm not a bad person. But I have to say, I have been having the hardest time with accepting what happened to my son. The guilt of not being there. Last night my poor husband looked so concerned I was going astray from the Lord. He helps me to see, that God gave us all free will. That Eve did not force Adam into anything, and that we bring on our own pain and suffering. Not God. A child who is abused is innocent but she or he suffers for the parents abuse. Why I say? If God is so loving, why wouldn't He protect the innocent child from harm? He said He does protect her, her soul. But her body is in the parents hands and it is THEM causing her pain. I probably could have used a better example, this one is depressing. But those are the questions I give my poor hubby, so see, ya'll are spared some. LOL I'm still not sure I get his answer, gonna have him go over it again with me tonight. Poor guy. Well I have went on and on, all to say thank you Mother J!

I believe..I believe in God..I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ..Do I believe in the Bible..I did as a child.. I LOVED Church as a child, the singing, praising, I always wept. My parents divorced when I was 10..not an easy or acceptable thing in those days. We had always gone to Church- except my dad, he never went that I knew of not even when we pleaded..After the divorce, we went to Church..Pastor had some words with my mother..we were allowed in but not her..she kept silent about it to her death, but never went to church again. Insisted we did..after a couple weeks I remember we hid in the bathroom til service was over. I never went again..missed it ..yes, but knew it didn't feel right anymore.
Believe in the Bible...I have always felt, read it from cover to cover..take away not the words so much but the feeling it gives you. It's that feeling that gets you closer to God..that tells you who you are.

OH MY GOODNESS! See, that makes me want to judge something. How
tragic. I'm so sorry that happened.

That's terrible. That pastor will have to answer to the Lord. I think you would find most Christian churches are not like that anymore.

waiting mom.. that is a shame, and like Terri said, that pastor will be answering to God. A lot of churches - even today - think its a social club. they forget that Christ came for the sinners not the already saved. a little example story....

a guy goes to church and is sitting there and every so often, when the pastor says something especially good, the guy claps his hands or says Praise the Lord. this goes on for a while and finally 2 ushers come up to him and quietly ask the man to come outside a moment. he does. they say what is going on. He says well, I just found Christ and I am excited and full of the Spirit. the guys look at him and tell him.....
well you didn't find any of that here. leave.
sort of funny but sadly that is how churches are, the women have these things going about who dresses up best, and all the potlucks, but question where are the missionaries that go out in the streets to the hurting.?

best advice I can give you... find a small Bible church. the big ones, well we went to this new one when we moved to az from cali and after a yr we knew all of 3 or 4 names. found a small church and love it, and supportive of my son in prison, the preacher preaches right out of the Word not a sermon premade.

reg,
first off.

be very good to your man. he is a treasure.

second:
you are one of the most caring Christlike women I have I ever come across.

even The APOSTLES were convicted and in jail. Christ was in jail.

not important in the long run...LOL

Oh, sent my post and decided I was whining - skip it. Who knows, maybe God's idea of love is to send us all through hell on the way to getting to some better afterlife.

Hugs Dezember. Thats just awful awful awful that happened to you. What is up with these churches that do this to people's lives?? This angers me. I hear of such things, but never for reals. But it's true! You all experienced these things.

Oh, thanks, you are such an encouragement. I'm sitting here whining in my beer while there are people facing much harder tests with dignity. And I used to like myself, wonder where that nice woman went?

But see, did make me more hesitant, did make me more mindfull, did not diminish my faith because I knew the difference between the two even at that age I knew. To this day have not stepped inside a church..but my faith is strong. I miss the worship of people together, but for me I find the Lord hears me no matter where I am or who I'm with

Aww Hugs Dezember, You are a nice and good woman. What you're going thru it's so difficult. And to have the church you loved so much to suggest something like that, how devistating. We're here to hang out while you drink your beer. Keep an eye on it though, some of us have really long straws around here. hehe!

I admire your strength to still continue on and upward in that. You were just a little kid and that's a whole lot to have had to deal with. I'm glad you rose above it all! Halleluja! I hope you find a place of fellowship sometime, perhaps just by accident. You never know huh. Just to hang out with good folks who truly care about you and the people you care about. You deserve this.

Bring your straw, I don't mind sharing - just giving me a big belly anyway. It's so nice to come on here and not feel so ALONE.

Oh I know what you mean! I'm not sure if I'm addicted or what. I'm just so happy when I'm here yet It's so sad here too. But I need both to feel alive. We're never alone anymore Dezember

Are you referring to "If We are the Body"? I have loved that song since day one, but the video puts even more meaning into the words. It made me cry.
