Congratulations Anjon! WOOHOO!!!! 13 months is a long time to be locked up and never allowed to have any choices. I think that is still a thing for me, or maybe it's just cause I'm a woman, LOL. "What do you want to eat"? "I don't care, you pick"....heeheehee. I'm glad this thread has helped, Bless has helped more people than she knows. Thank you Bless! Again, soooo happy for you Anjon, keep us posted!

Anjon,

I think the way your son is acting is normal. My son spent 3 months in county jail last year (he's in prison now for4 months, he'll come home in May) and the day he came home I would've sworn he was on drugs if he was the kind of kid who did drugs because he looked so confused and disoriented and when I asked him what was wrong he said "I just don't know what to do with all this space around me."
But thankfully he started to feel like himself really quickly after a shower in his own house and a night's sleep in his own bed.
His eating habits were weird for a while though too. He had lost weight in jail so his appetite wasn't what it used to be.

Your boy may experience things similiar to these but he'll bounce back and be the same kid he used to be.
I hope the next 30 days fly by for you so you can hold your son in your arms.

Aww thanks Reggie and Jame for your good wishes and reassurance. I don't know what I would have done without this site this last year. Gosh these days are going so slowwwwly- the final countdown. I hope my son will settle down quite quickly- he's already told me he will probably sleep on the couch for a while as his bed will be too soft and too big- so that's a decision, of sorts. It's just so out of character for him to be so undecided , but, you're right- its probably normal as it's bound to be disorienting. Thank you again.

Anjon......one more thing............you're son is undecided because for the past 13 months almost all of his decisions were made FOR him by someone else.

My son isn't home yet, but I was writing out a check today for something at my 9 year old little guys school and realized that it is 30 days and a wake up until his out date. I called the prison to see how to send his come home clothes and found out that we don't mail them anymore we take them with us on their get out date. No matter. The sun is out, flowers are starting to peep their little heads out from winter bed and I have been charging around singing & dancing. The animal life thinks I'm nuts and the cat looks ready to run if she sees me. Just happy today - it's almost over.

Thanks Reggie.... keep the suggestions coming. God willing this Weds. I will have 365 days until my son walks out those doors.

We have been planning this day for 2 years. He will walk out into a LIMO, where His beautiful little GF will be waiting. They will have a 2 hour ride home. If he wants to stop and eat that will be fine. I think I have to leave it up to him what he feels comfortable in doing.

Then the work begins.. He will have a place ready and waiting for him with his gf.

I need all these suggestions... it helps it truly does.

YOU MRS REGGIE ARE AN SUCESS STORY!!!! YOU ARE MY HERO!

Ladies thank you for the good wishes. Hopefully we can all share many more homecomings. It is great. His dad picked him up. I wanted to but he needed to share some with his day. They stopped and got breakfast on the way home. His dad got there at 8:02. There were about 6-7 others being released at the same time so by the time they got through processing they got on the road home around 9:00. We've gone to the grocery store and gotten some food items, gone to the neighbors house (she's a friend of his), gone for a walk around the neighborhood. I have ribs in the oven because they were one of his favorite foods.

It has just been wonderful having him here. It's like this big weight has been lifted. I know there are probably some tough times ahead. We have two years of probation to deal with, but at least he is home. He's enjoying just getting something to eat when he wants it instead of asking.

OMG he's home.

Ladies it has been an amazing day. Nothing big, just small warm moments. It's midnight here and I am tired beyond belief but can't sleep. The only downer to the day is that my poor kitty went into heat and has been awful. It will be the last time. I plan to have her spayed before it happens again.

I so hope that we get to keep on reading more stories of homecomings. They are just so wonderful.

Thank you all for shareing it with me.
