Default 27 years out

I was released in 1993 after doing 50 months on an 8 year sentence. I was in and out of jail and prison during most of the 80s. I was in foster homes from age 3. I was the perfect candidate to do life on the installment plan. I have been caretaking a 40 acre vineyard with 3 bass ponds for 23 years now and have owned my own business for just over 20 years. I haven't been back with no plan to.

Awesome!! I love hearing success stories because it can be done.

I'm also envious of your acreage gig. I'm starting to collect farm animals like some people collect postage stamps. Can I borrow an acre or two?

Congratulations on leaving your old world and life behind you and making a new world and life for yourself. That’s something that too few of us succeed in doing.

It wasn't easy. I was married inside so had a place to go when I got out. Turned out my wife got back in meth. Same thing that got me arrested. It took me about a month to find a job and a year to save enough to get away from her. I was worried the whole time about going back because she wouldn't stop and had meth in our apartment when my PO showed up on multiple occasions. He never found it because she kept it in her bra. I never tested dirty but for some reason they kept me on parole for the entire 3 years. I think they wanted to find a reason to send me back. I finally had enough of the wife when I came home from work 1 day and saw the kitchen clean. I thought she finally did the dishes. I went to take a shower and what did I find? The bathtub had every dirty dish in the apartment in it. I moved in with a friend and his wife that day. My wife didn't know where they lived and I wanted to keep it that way. That didn't last long. She hid close to where I worked and followed me home 1 day without me knowing. Then started stalking me. I moved again. Had to find another job. I finally got a job falling trees for a logger. I was really good at that from years as a first saw on fire crews. I was working for him when I met the owner of the property I live on now in 96. I just got off of parole so he didn't know I was in and I have 0 tattoos to give it away. He was really impressed with my skills with a chainsaw and we got to talking. He hired my away from the logger and I worked for him for a few years. I started my own business with an idea I had in fire camp during that time and am still running my business and caretaking this property. Life is good now.
