Default Inmate #643117 Beaten by Guards at TDCJ

Hello;

I am a mother of an inmate named Cedric Lewis #643117 housed at Jester IV in Richmond Texas 77469.
This inmate was assaulted by guards in August 1, 2001 while he was handcuffed behind his back and shuckled feet. Yes, one of the guard siigned a confession. The Warden retired, Director of TDCJ retired, the others are hiding from their criminally acts.

I ended up filing a Federal Lawsuit in US Southern District Court in Houston, Texas as pro sec. Well, the judge dismissed me but my son was allowed to proceed. We need a lawyer to continue this fight for us.

It need to show TDCJ prisoner has rights just because they were sentence for the crime they committed they were not sent to prison to be beaten, rape or abuse by the staffs etc.

Please tell me about this immunity for the guards. The Atty General filed an answer but trying to get them off with immunity. I read if a person acts under state and under color of law in his job capacity she or him could be held accountable for their wrongful doing. Is this correct?

Please send my request out to all or any onne who can help please write me back ASAP.

We the people need to stop this form of mental cruel treatment in these prisons. These men and women are sent to prison for their crimes committed not to be beaten, raped, or abuse. How dare we allow this to continue in TDCJ or any prison in the United States of America? We have people fighting about the abuse of the Iranian in the war camps what about our daughters, son, love ones in the United States prisons in America. Many of these Iranians killed ours soldiers fiighting the War and people of 911 in NY.

Thank you,
Ms. Linda Johnson

This is for all Illinois that have gotten no where with pro bono stuff
If you go to the site listed below, it lists a bunch of places that have recieved grants for their pro bono work--I figure that they must be doing something right--

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, for all of this wonderful information. You know each prison is suppose to have a good law library, however, when you are dealing with two different states, it is difficult. Because they just dont have the info one needs for the other states laws.
This comprehensive list will be a great help. Thank you again.

Default Need Mississippi pro bono help

I have heard that there is a Christian non-profit organization in Jackson, MS that helps inmates with appeals and post-conviction relief. Does anyone have any information about that? My friend was wrongfully convicted of a crime he didn't commit and sentenced to 30 years. He can't afford more attorney fees. Any information about this organization or any other that may be able to help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey

I am looking for pro (publico) bono attorneys in the state of Missouri that would take a prisoners' rights case. I have already found several addresses, but I bet there are more experienced individuals with these matters on this forum and I welcome any recommendations.

Default pro bono attorneys

I have tried to seek help from the Legal Services of Calif. Solano County Office 930 Marin Street Vallejo Calif. 94590. You see my husband (soon to be ) is doing thirty-five to life for a crime he did not commit, and can show documents, that prove he was railroaded. They just wanted to convict a Black Man. This agency said they could not help, I have the response letter they sent me back, to show they denied they could help. I would like to know why are they listed as PRO BONO. What does it take for them to help someone that really needs someone to just talk to him, and see that he is truely a innocent man. Sincerly Williamslady

We are mothers living in West Virginia, Kentucky, and Ohio volunteering with Kairos Prison Ministry to help one another. We are in need of Pro Bono Lawyers to help our children who were sentence unjustly.

Please help. This is our first time using this service and any advice how to use this service will be greatly appreciated. I am writing for those who live out in the appalachian regions of the Tri-states who do not have access to a computer and I use the computer at the local county library.

I am still looking for a attorney in Michigan. The innocense projects won't help cause there was no DNA of my husbands found. Oh there was DNA but not his. He did not do the crime and somehow I will prove that and get him out. He has spent almost 18 years in prison before I meet him and I won't let him spend another 18 or 20 for something he didn't do.

I find some of your stories sadly touching, and I'm sorry for your hardships. I, too, need a lawyer, but not for my husband -- for my son who received 7 summons after being pulled over as a result of racial profiling. My son has an uncle who's on the force and the code in my town is the police don't mess with family members of other police. However, because my son's uncle is one of the good cops, the bad ones have messed with him. When they heard my son's last name and saw that he had the same face, they tried to throw the book at him, starting with seven summons and ending with him pleading guilty to the charge just to get out of jail. My son doesn't make trouble so he doesn't want to sue. All he wants is his name cleared and his prints back; all he wants is peace of mind, and you cannot have peace of mind when you're suing the police department. The way he feels, he'll either get framed or wind up in a dumpster when all he's really guilty of is being Black, which is why they stopped him, and being the nephew of a good policeman. This is 2005 but that doesn't seem to count for too much when it comes to some things.

Default Just An Fyi On The Wi Legal Action Place

Just wanted to let everyone know that my fiance wrote the WI legal action place on that list and they sent his letter back to him in the envelope he sent the letter in, opened, taped back up and stamped return to sender. Waste of time and precious stamps.

I was so caught up in some of your stories that I forgot to mention that I know the two firms in New York from the list. I'm contacting them tomorrow about advice on my son's situation and will get back to you with the feedback I got.

I just made contact with one of the pro bono law firms listed under New York that I know AND THEY ARE STILL ACTIVE in their pro bono work. Yess!!! I was switched to one of the lawyers of the firm who does pro bono and left a voice mail.

At this point I'd like to say THANK YOU PTO for the hook-up!!

I haven't seen my husband since July 2 and had planned to see him again on July 30th. However, because I have to go to court to support my son regarding the seven summones he was given, my husband is disappointed that I won't be there. Fortunately, the following Saturday is an even-date Saturday so instead of waiting any longer, we'll be able to visit then.
