Default 2 Executions Scheduled for May 7

Spring is supposed to be watching life bloom; not watching government execute. On May 7th, Texas has scheduled the execution of Carroll Parr and MS has scheduled Willie Manning. Both men have individual threads in this forum.

Mr. Parr's is located:
http://www.prisontalk.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=632884

and Mr. Manning's:

I can only pray for divine (or judicial) intervention...

No place for mitigation

Carroll Parr grew up in extreme poverty, in a family of chronic abusers. His mother, reportedly first pregnant before turning eight, drank excessively while carrying him, and once he was born the abuse continued – not only at the hands of his mother and father, but also by an older sister, who testified in court that on several occasions she even tried to kill him. The abuse took its toll; eventually, his sister testified, Parr would sit and rock back and forth and "hit his head against things" in response to violence in the home.

It's so heartbreaking. Society was not interested in Mr. Parr when he was a child. Nobody cared for him. And now, all at once, they take a great interest to kill him. Shame.

Unfortunately, Carroll Parr remains scheduled for death, TODAY.
Quote:
the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals on Friday rejected his latest appeal in which he claims actual innocence, moving him a step closer to the execution chamber.
This excerpt is from here.

Despite the admission by the FBI of flawed evidence in the trial of Willie Manning, he also awaits execution TODAY.
Quote:
In the past four days, the Justice Department has delivered two separate letters to lawyers in the case acknowledging that an FBI "hair" analyst's "expert" testimony at Manning's 1994 trial, testimony which helped incriminate the defendant by linking him to hair fibers found at the crime scene, "exceeded the limits of science and was, therefore, invalid."

Mr. Manning is given a stay. That's the good news.

Sadly, Mr. Parr's stay was denied. None other was to expect from blood-thirstiest Governor.

Praying for strength for Mr. Parr and all involved.
