Question Mental Health Meds

Hey. It looks like I finally have a deal to sign on the 24. Aggravated DUI, four months department of corrections. Thing is, I'm on three mental health meds right now, if I'm off them I don't get aggressive or harm myself -I just feel really shitty, depressed and very anxious. That said, I'd like to stay on my meds but am worried I'll get stuck in a medium custody mental health yard instead of a minimum custody DUI yard. My question is as follows: What are the differences between medium and minimum custody? What privileges does one lose in med. that they would have in min.?
As it stands I doubt I'll go without some sort of interruption in my medication anyway, and if it's going to be a shittier experience I can just say eff it and not even mention my prescriptions. Suggestions? Thanks everyone!

i would suggest obtaining 2 copies of your scripts. Take one with you when you in to sentencing and have a backup copy sent to you once you are housed. Put in a notice to be seen by mental health and bring the copy of your current meds and they will usually continue them. Good luck. As far as minimum and medium custody is the number of CO's per inmate numbers. depending on the facility it can effect visits. medium is behind glass where minimum is usually not.

My LO had a script not for anything serious but he took the actual full prescription bottle with him when he turned himself in and they gave them to him till it ran out. And in AZ I'm pretty sure the only time visits are behind glass is if you are on a max yard or if you lose your visiting privileges in some way.

Well that's pretty cool. You said he turned himself in, had he been sentenced and then had to report to department of corrections? I just assumed I'd be sentenced, then taken to Maricopa County, then within a few days turned over to department of corrections. Thanks for the fast response by the way.

Thanks Rommie. I'll go ahead and try to stay on my meds then. I assumed my visits would be behind glass anyway so I'm willing to take that risk, I've never been in a prison before, just county time here in Phoenix and in Tacoma, Wa. I appreciate the information.

Well he signed a plea deal and then the judge gave him about a month to get his affairs in order, so at the sentencing he essentially turned himself in. Yea pretty sure that's what will happen he was in county for a few weeks then went to Alhambra and started this journey. Good luck and be safe!

Thanks. The sooner I'm out of that media-whore Arpaio's jails the better. Your man really had a few weeks there? Fuuuuuuck.
