Can't beat that! I bet you are excited! Did you fax your papers in, mail? I see that you can download the papers on the bop manchester site, but i have almost been afraid that they would be different papers. I am still hoping to go see him by Thanksgiving! Just glad he is getting closer to home! And congratulations to you!

Yea, I mailed in the form from the visitor packet link on the bop website for Manchester. I sent it to the FCI address with "Attn: Visitation Forms" but I found out later that it was supposed to be sent to another PO Box and in the inmate's counselor's attention. They still approved me with the first application that I sent in, so they must be used to overly eager family members like me. I'm sure you'll get to do Thanksgiving with your son! He's being moved soon isn't he?

As far as the visitation at the camp... I don't know their rules, but I am assuming they are much the same as at the FCI. Just take plenty of quarters for the vending machines. They don't allow paper money. They say only $20, but they never count it. I take WAY more than that most times because, well, he is a BIG eater! LOL Take a Jacket! You can hang it up if you get hot, or go get it and put it on if you get cold. But if the visit room at the camp is ANYTHING like the one at the FCI, you will get cold. Be prepared to get in "trouble". They have rules that you kinda have to learn as you go. I am sure that the camp isn't as strict as the FCI, but just keep your head about you and you should be fine! There are very few COs there that I can't get along with.
Have fun, and enjoy your visit!

Thank you so much for the info. I'm so excited, but I will definitely keep my head screwed on and pay attention. I've prepared myself for getting in a little trouble. I think I read on here someone got fussed at for sitting on their legs and I have a terrible habit of always doing that! I just can't wait to see him again. It is going to be such a relief! I'm hoping the excitement will help the miles fly by during the big 9 hour drive! lol

Oh, Ladybug, do they use that ionizer at the FCI when checking people for visitation?

I honestly don't know. I know that you have to be approved, and to get approved you can't have anything like that (I believe). I know they put you into a computer when you check in, but I am not sure if they are just checking to see if you are on the approved list or what they are doing. I wish I had more information.

The only thing that I could suggest (and if anyone else has any ideas, please help out), but I would call the camp and just ask. You don't have to give them your name or his, just tell them you have a general question.

Sorry I couldn't help more, but that is all I got...

Umm.. That was me that got fussed at for sitting on my legs! LOL But that was at the FCI. It could be different at the Camp.

If you are getting a hotel, and with a 9 hour drive I would assume you are, the Best Western in Manchester isn't too bad. Some people stay in London (I have), but it is about a 20 to 30 minute drive from there to Manchester. AND!!! there are road signs EVERY SINGLE MILE to tell you that you are one mile closer! LOL The first time I drove it, I felt like they were mocking me! LOL But, staying in London, if you like to shop, and you will need something to do Saturday evening, then you are closer to the stores... Just trying to give you some idea of the area. I wish I would have known some of this stuff my first time! Now I have a GREAT friend that I travel with even! It makes the trip go even better!

Have fun, and be careful! Let us know how it went!

They say that they have one, but I have never seen it used... I don't know if it is something that is mounted or if it is something that they physically have to do.

OK! My turn to "brag" a little!!! LOL

We got our Halfway House Date!!! 12/25/2011!!! But, there are a few snags...
1) They don't release on holidays... so add at least two day... WHAT IS TWO DAYS AFTER 3.5 YEARS???
2)We MIGHT be able to get it moved up a couple of weeks because of the holidays... not really a snag, but neither of these will go unless #3 is handled..

3) We HAVE to get a Post Release Control hold (PRC) dropped on him from the state, or he will have to stay there until June 2012...

So... just say your prayers that our lawyer can make miracles happen!!

Now.. another quick brag! LOL Last weekend, as I was being escorted out from visit (he always makes me leave before everyone else... he is sooo protective of me!) I just told the CO that was walking with me to keep him out of trouble... he told me that if they were all like him, there wouldn't BE any trouble there! It really made me smile!

Sorry... had to boast a little!

Yea, we stayed at that Best Western the night before he turned himself in. I booked that place again for this trip. I've heard that London is a lot cheaper to stay in, but I like being so much closer! Thanks for all of the tips. Keep them coming - I need to learn from experience!

That is great news, Ladybug! Brag away! My prayers are with you guys and I'm keeping my fingers crossed! It will all work out for you guys - I'm sure. Just keep thinking positive! I'm off to go check that lockdown thread...yes, I'm already worried. I just haven't heard from him in more than 12 hours. He missed our schedule today...ugh!

I've waited over 28 hours now and I haven't heard from my guy at the camp. Anyone else heard anything from anyone at FCI or FPC? Just want to check in and see if their on lockdown or what - it's the first time he's missed a day talking to me.

Apparently there was a lockdown in the camp - no details, though.

Really? that is weird. Usually if it is at one, it is at the other too... that is odd... Well, I hope all is well.

I just got a call from my sweetie at the FCI, and AFTER we got done with our weekly argument... LOL... he didn't mention anything about a lockdown at the camp... but see my post to follow this about some goings on at the FCI... you never know when it may affect the camp too.

Keep us posted on the camp situation!

Exclamation 10/2/2010

Hey all... just got a call from Scott... He said that there was just a fight in the chow hall. It was a one-on-one, and it wasn't good. But, he doesn't think that they will lock down, but you never know. There may still be some tension in there, and something could happen later.... They are like little kids sometimes! LOL

Just wanted to let you all know to keep your ears open, and let us know if you hear anything further about this.

Thanks!

Apparently, they found a lot of contraband Wed or Thur, so they put them on lockdown for a while. Now, they are restricted from the gym, track and weight pile. That's what my guy has been told anyway. Weird that it didn't affect the FCI though, huh? I'm keeping my fingers crossed everything is normal so I can still get my 1st visit!

Yea, my son told me the same thing. I was on pins & needles Thursday not hearing from him all day. We email and talk on a regular basis. He finally called me around 3:30 Thursday afternoon and told me they had been locked in the gym all day while they were doing a very thorough shakedown. He called me back around 4:00 and said they had just announced that they were going back on lock down that evening and for most of the day on Friday, which they were. Glad that is over with!

Just got an email from my sweetie.... he said the fight was one-on-one, and one guy had to be care-flighted out to Lexington. The guy that went out, swung first, and the other is now in the hole.

I have heard bits and pieces of other information, but I don't like posting it, cause I don't want to worry anyone, or make anyone think I choose sides. I am not about all that. I am about all of our guys getting home safe and sound. So, if I post, it will only be general, and non-discriminatory (is that a word?).

I sincerly hope that this latest "mess" didn't involve anyone in this thread. It all scares me.... I just want them home....

Thanks, Ladybug. That is a mess. I agree - I hope it doesn't involve anyone here - this whole situation is scary enough without even thinking about the dangers in there too.

Good, I'm glad I wasn't the only one that was nervous on Thursday! That was the first time I had been through that - very scary. I waited until I hit 24 hours without hearing from him before posting here, but I still feel like I was a little over-anxious! Hope things get back to normal this week, for everyone's sake.

Trust me, we would rather someone question things early than not at all! I have posted after only a few hours... I get REALLY nervous! I am better now, but post whenever you think there might be an issue. My sweetie and I have a "schedule" too so when he misses the schedule.. .I FREAK! LOL

I am trying to fill out the paper so that I can go visit my son! Did one of you say that you sent the paper ahead of time to the prison? I sure hope I recall everything. My husband is a truck driver, so he has had several moving violations over the years, I am just going to have to tell them that! 35 years of truck driving and tickets... there is no way to remember all of them!
