Question Federal Prison: Otisville vs. Fort Dix

Hello,
I am not certain that this would be the correct forum to post this message. My fiance' has the option to move to a low facility due to his points being reduced. He his currently in Otisville FCI. I was hoping someone who may have been in both facilities (Otisville/Fort Dix or Allenwood) or one of them, would be able to shed some light on the pros and cons of each?? He is hearing that he has it pretty good at Otisville and that he should not request the move?? I am wondering how a medium facility would be better than a low? Any change is scary so I'm nervous for him. Could someone provide information on adjusting from a medium to a low facility? Are there weights and busy options at Fort Dix? Or Allenwood? The down side to going to a low is that he will be much further away from me. Thank you for any information you may provide.

All I know about either prison is that Ft Dix is a really old army fort, with 1940's unairconditioned buildings. I was there a long time ago as a soldier, and have heard nothing but bad things about it as a prison.

Thank you for your response, FBOPNoMore. Would you be able to tell me some of the things you have heart about the fort as a prison?

Here's a link to the Ft. Dix prison sticky that started in 2003 and goes through 33 full pages of posts, the most recent one from this week.

No AC, the dilapidated housing and overcrowding seem to be frequent complaints. Good luck.

Ft. Dix has very little to no programming. Food is terrible. Buildings very run down. No AC and windows do not open. Crowded place. I cannot compare it to Allenwood though. I don't know anything about Allenwood low.

I only know fort Dix but from what my bf tells me it's a dump! That it's just dirty and just overcrowded. Visiting from what I hear has been on and off for a coupleofmonths so planning visits can become hard. Especially if you have to travel. Hopefully that will improve soon. Best of luck to you and your love.
