My Brother is due to release soon. He will not be going to the county of origin as there is no family or friends, only bad there. They set his county to release where he is in Prison. He knows no one there either. He is 100% disabled and can not walk without assistance. There are the usual road blocks for those coming out of prison after 15 years, no money, no license, no car, no place to live that is felon friendly. He has never lived in this county so he is unfamiliar with it. All of his family lives in other states. Suggestions? Thanks in advance I am clueless with how to help.
If he is being released on parole or probation, his PO will be involved with almost anything he does, including his housing. The PO will also know much about the situation he will experience in the new county, and should be able to help him become settled.
If he will pass through a half way house, their purpose is supposedly to assist their residents in finding work, housing, obtaining ID, health care, etc. Once he is out, ask him how you and his other family members can help.
