Default Can a prisoner bring special medication in jail ?

My friend had to jail few months but He had hepatitis B ( liver disease ). He need take medication every day. Do he need to bring medication with him and how can He order medication for every month ? Thanks

It depends on the rules in his prison. Some do allow medications prescribed by a private doctor, but most only permit RX medications from their own medical staff, which they will also provide.

It may be possible to find the RX formulary for that jail, or the private company that has the jail's medical contract. If so, you can see what medications are possible for Hepatitis B, and have him make a written request to receive them.

When my hub was arrested, I was able to bring him a medication he was taking to the jail. (along with his mouthpiece to keep him from grinding his teeth at night) they allowed both after examining them. Tho his meds were just a course with no refills.
