Thank you from the bottom of my Mainland Kiwi heart - I don't usually post on these forums, though I am a Kiwi living in NZ.... It doesn't sound huge on world scale, and I'm sure its not, but it is one of the blackest days in our history, we will not recover from this in any short order.

God Bless those that will spend this night trapped, searching, grieving and doing their best just to see the light. We are thinking and praying for you and we promise that we will not rest until we come for you. Please offer a prayer tonight for those stuck, those searching, and those struggling to stay alive over the next 10 or so hours..

It is huge and it is devastating. I can't believe what I'm seeing on tv and the pictures in the news. I cant believe it. It must be terrifying.

I was extremely saddened to see this on the news here. And I feel so helpless to do anything but send lots of positive energy and hope to everyone affected by this

Thank you so much. This morning brings the inevitable news of more horrible deaths and numerous heroic actions by ordinary people to help their fellow man. I have a missing relative who was at a Church service when the church collapsed and we are yet to hear from her. Please pray for us - and thank you for sending your specialist recovery people so quickly to help. We all appreciate the global efforts right now to help us rescue those that can be and recover those that have passed. This is a very dark day, maybe even the darkest in NZ history...

Miss73, I'm so sorry that you can't get home right now and that you too have missing loved ones. If you need me to try contact anyone here or to ring in and have people checked on by the rescuers, PM me, I will do anything to help you try and get some relief. Hang in there buddy, its truly devastating but we are all in this together and we'll come out of it together. It takes more than an earthquake to quell Kiwi spirit and the assistance we are receiving from our international friends will surely save lives. There are no words to describe the grief, even just in Auckland in public that pervades the city. Thank you to all those that have sent prayers and wishes, we need them tonight and in the time to come.

Hello from Christchurch, New Zealand :-)
(Please excuse my disjointed thoughts, lol)

This is a very unreal situation to be in right now. To see my city suffer such
Devastation. These buildings that I have grown up with and always known..... The spirit of the people in Christchurch is amazing though. Searching and caring and helping. We will Not give up hope, we Will rebuild, we Will survive.

There are many people missing, dead and injured... and many many more whose homes, businesses, places of employment are damaged. The force of nature is so mind-blowing. I ask The Lord to bless these people and to guide and protect the many that are giving of their time, efforts and love.

And yet, through this all, the love and support that comes from family, neighbours, and total strangers is the most amazing of all. The help from across the world... the messages.. the aid... I cannot put this into words.... in one moment, my world was rocked off its axis... and then I am reminded that buildings are just bricks and mortar. Tis people that cannot be replaced.

I have been without power and water, The power came back on for me yesterday, but 20% of the city still wait. I am among 35 % of the city still without water tonight. How much we take these luxuries for granted!

Please take a moment and thank the Lord for the blessings we have received today. We are alive and well. We have fresh air and sunshine. We have the love of many, the support from around the world.

My mate was not permitted to ring me the day of the EQ, He was told all telecommunication were out. (much was, but not all by any means, they did not even bother to try) But since then I have had a couple of calls each day. He can only see what is on the TV and is so worried about me and our families and friends. It has been a great help to me to speak with him and to say how much I care. I am glad he is still up North (since the EQ last September) and so is out of the danger area. He was supposed to have come back to Chch last week, how glad I am that plans changed. Sometimes things that seem to be the worst, are not even close.

Thankyou for listening
