Default Intro--Guille69 from California

We just got a phone call from County Correctional Facility here in Los Angeles , it was my son letting me know he is going to be taken to Prison tomorrow morning. He was given 3 years for a dui, but he had a prior felony dui. He is going with 282 days credit. I heard he is going to do 33% of the sentence. I hope its true and if it is , can someone please let me know when he'll be out, i just do not know what to think or do right now.

I'm terribly sorry to hear that its asad day at home and in your hearts, that your son is being transferred to reception I know those 3 years seem like an eternity, and right now you won't believe this but it'll be here before you know it.

When My Mr was transferred to what we call the assessment & classification facility we looked at it as a milestone, a step in the process of Coming Home. And one day closer to his release.

I know you feel as if your heart has been ripped out of your chest...Breathe!! Stay busy with family / friends, work, hobbies, take classes, anything to just stay busy.

You'll find California specific info in that states forum: California

You'll find other parent's and much moral support in the Parent's forum: Parents with Children in Prison.

Welcome to PTO!
There are a lot of things that factor into the amount of actual time he'll serve and those can be tough to guess at. When he arrives at his facility, he'll be in reception. When he meets with his counselor (typically 4-6 months, but I've recently seen much shorter times so fingers crossed!) he'll have the absolute clearest idea of how much time he'll have left. The reason it's tough to say is because we don't have a copy of his sentencing report to look over and we don't know if he qualifies for any alternative custody programs.

But it does sound like he's got a decent amount of pre-sentencing credits to apply and his term is short. Hang in there and he'll be home before you know it.

You may want to check out our California forums for more specific info.
