Default So excited that I finally got approved for visits with my MWI!!!

I am so excited and nervous at the same time. I was denied for visits when I applied back in October because they said I didn't include my arrest on the application. I had just spent a night in jail and it was back in 1988. I sent a letter and another application last week and my love just informed me that I was approved!!! I am so excited and he said that he is happy too. We have been communicating 6 years and I haven't visited. He is in federal and every time I planned to visit, he was transferred or the prison he was currently at was on lock down. He will be released in November, but I want to visit before he come home. I have some planning to do!!!

Have a wonderful visit , first visits are always so wonderful , make sure you come back and tell us all about it.
In fact you have just reminded me of my first visit to my now ex and all those tingly nerves came rushing back.
You will have a wonderful time.

It usually takes between 1-2 weeks to get a response unless their counselor is out on vacation or something. It took me 4 months this time because I was denied the first time and had to wait to reapply. It all depends on their counselor. Hopefully you will hear something soon. If not, have your man talk to his counselor to see what is going on.

Is he in a federal prison? If so, did they approve you even if you didn't know him prior to his incarceration?

Yes he is in federal and they did approve me without knowing him prior to incarceration. I have been knowing him while being transferred through 4 prisons. Each prison approved me, but the prison that he is currently at denied me and I appealed it 4 months later and got approved. It might be because he had a different counselor when I appealed.

Okay that's great you got approved. I got denied due to not knowing him prior to his incarceration and his counselor got upset because I put that I met him as a pen-pal and denied me. Did you put that you met as a pen-pal or through a friend?

That's the prudent astute way to do it chica!i did the same as you, and good luck to you and him on your 1st physical/interaction/visit after so long.I pray it is all you are hoping it would be and i am sure it will be. Just think positive. Then i hope when he is home winter november 2018, it's even better in the "real world!" I feel your happiness throughout your post...God bless you.Hugs n Blessings. Adios...

Because my SO told me, I guess they don't like inmates having a pen-pal ad up, I guess since I put pen-pal on the application he assumed that he had an ad up.

Awwww...thanks chica...I was nervous at first and was thinking that something is going to go wrong. You're right...I have to think positive that everything is going to go right. It has to go right. This is going to be my first time flying to visit someone in prison. I used to visit my brother, but he was only 1 hour away. I booked everything for the weekend of March 23rd. He is super excited as well! I am so happy for you and your guy and happy that everything is working out in your favor. Yeah...November can't get here fast enough!!! Then the true test starts

Yeah that probably was the case, but I didn't get denied because I met him as a penpal, I got denied because of an arrest that I didn't include on the visiting form. I really didn't get arrested, I just spent a night in jail. My guy kept pushing me to write a letter to his counselor explaining that they weren't that specific with that question. He also talked to the warden and his counselor and I wrote another letter a few months later and got approved. He had a different counselor, that is the reason that I think I got approved. If your friend doesn't have any or few visitors, that will help to. I would suggest writing to the warden in a couple of months requesting a special visit and also explain that you won't be a threat and talk about the good that your friend is doing like if he works, take classes, etc. Like my guy teaches esl (English as second language) I hope you get approved soon!!! Good luck and God bless!!!

Congratulations and best wishes for you both Candy! I was somewhere between the happiest degree of anticipation and highest degree of terror during my first visit. I survived it though and treasure every opportunity. Now the quest for contact visits

Awww...thanks...I am sure that I will be the same Lol. This will be totally different from talking on the phone and writing letters. I tease him and say, "what if I don't like u out in person" He always says, " I know that won't be a problem because I know that you already love me", my love!!! So you haven't had your first contact visit yet? He must still be in the county jail?
