I think MCCF stands for
McFarland Community Correctional Facility (MCCF)
McFarland, CA (Kern County)

CCF I am not sure of I thought it just stood for community correctional facility

There is a websight that I was in the other day and it had a California map with EVERY Steate and Federal prison listed. Not a whol lot of info but the general ocation. I am at school killing a few minutes before a final exam so I don't have time now but give me a couple days and I'll see if I can find it. In the meantime try googling "California Prisons."

Default We are forgetting the "Private" California Prisons

Alot of you might not be aware, but California has an additional 13 "private" prisons in this state. They are concidered community correctional facilities and are still funded by the state but are owned and operated by a private company. Some of these facilities are run by a company called GEO. These guards are hired without any special training and are paid a low wage. There is one CDC Sergent that is there 24 hours a day, but other than that, the rest of the employees are through the GEO Group.

There is a lot to learn about these facilities and I would like to know more. The one that my husband is at is run very differently than the state prisons. They more or less set their own rules and they change every time I go there to visit. The guys don't have any hobbies or schooling or anything. They are fed very little and usually the same things over and over and sandwiches are dinner. They have hand made clothes (which by the way look aweful). And there are about 80 men stacked in a room that is about 75' x 90'.

There are not enough guards for this facility so the guys end up not being able to do things like go outside past 7:30 pm because they don't have anyone who can sit out there. The female guards (which are about 75% of the staff) are either man haters or they are screwing around with the inmates.

This prison definately does not meet the requirements of being standard. It is run very poorly and I think they should not be allowed to stay in business.

If anyone has any additional information or can help me in getting these facilities to treat these guys humanely, please let me know.

Thank you,
Sharon

I don't have any first hand knowledge of private prisons but I have a couple of links I have been researching a bit. Here is a link to some owned by Corrections Corp of America (all different States) http://www.correctionscorp.com/facilitylist.cfm#
and by the dlr group http://www.dlrgroupjustice.com/justi...rnia_city.htm#

If you look on the website for CDCR, click on visitor and on the right side there are listings for prisons and community corrections facilities. The community corrections facilities are the private prisons. There is also a list of other private facilities run by corrections corp where there are at least another 3 California prisons. There may be more.

If your man is at a facility that ends in CCF, those are the private facilities and they are located all over California.

My son is at MCCF-Central Valley in McFarland CA. It is a GEO facility. What a mess. The rules for visitors change every time I am there, and my son tells me they change constantly for the inmates, it depends on who the guard is at any given time, and the rules one time do not apply to another. My son has 1 set of clothing for 5 weeks, and was given underware 4 sizes too big, Of course with the skidmarks from another inmate in side. He says the food is awful most of the time, and more problamatic is that they get so little food and are always hungery. The air conditioner goes on about 4:00 p.m. and off about 4:00 a.m., and blows on them as they sleep, my son has his sweats and his thermals and has folded two blankets in half to make four blankets, wears his knit hat, and he still shievers. He has been put in the hole for asking a question about his belongs which were mis placed and inventoried wrong by the guards, fortunately he had receipts for the walk man, and for many items I had sent him through ACCESS, but he still has not heard he will get replacements. My son would like to have a chaplin come to the prison, he goes to the chapel when they let him, but there are not services. They have only a few books in the library, and a computer class for beginners, there is no other training at all, even though they say they do and are suppose to under the state guidelines. Anyone know how I can get ahold of the Title 15 guidelines, or how can we contact someone at the top who can help with some of the problems in this facility??? I heard that if the inmates write out a complaint, it never gets to the person it is to go to. My son is in prison because over the last 7 years he had 4 DUI, he was on probation, but violated with a dirty test two weeks before probation ended. He has never been in prison before and he is a Level 1. This factility is a level 2/3. They were locked down for 3 weeks last month, and required to spend 24/7 in their beds except for bathroom and food breaks. Apparently a number of inmates got into a big fight. My son loves the Lord and is in the NA meetings twice a week. That is his saving grace, he will be out in April 07.

Sounds like McFarland is the same as Desert View. With the current issues of the overcrowding in the prisons, I doubt anyone would care about how these facilities are right now. They are talking about sending these extra inmates to other GEO facilities nationwide. Go figure! I wrote to the GEO group to tell them about the conditions at Desert View, I had to do in annonomously because I didn't want anything to happen to my husband. Even the guards at the prison are tired of some of the conditions. When it was 106 degrees outside the air conditioner was not working and no one was doing anything about fixing it. Just think about 80 guys in a 75 x 95' room with it 106 outside, which means that it had to be 120-130 inside! My husband said that the ac would go out about once a week for a day or so. He also said that at any given time 1/2 the toilets and showers do not work either. If you can think of anything we can do, let me know. I know your son gets out in April and mine gets out next August. Oh... these prisons have a contract with the state. They get the non violent DUI's and such and they will get them for the next 5 years! So... if your son (not saying he will), messes up in the next 5 years, he goes back to this prison no matter what!

Here is the title 15

My husband is at MCCF, it's like the Holiday Inn there no joke..... the Guards (GO's) are like Target security Guards...lol I HATE THAT PLACE... They used to give me a hard time before, but it's been ok lately, It's not like a real prison there's only 1 staff sargent and the rest are like teenage kids guarding the place. Visiting is ok, it's a dorm setting, three phones and they can talk till 11 pm on the weekdays and 1 am on the weekend. My man says the food sucks but all the guys get along really well. I swear everytime we talk on the phone it sounds like he's at a sportsbar or some shit, I swear...
