Default Rights of accused and victims relating to europe

We often hear of victims who rightfully feel let down, just as the accused and even the guilty can feel let down if unfair i formation is fed to the media. Did anyone know in many European countries such as Germany no last names are given of the accused, convicted, or even information about parolees? I don't necessarily advocate that for the American legal system, but it is interesting in the ongoing media debate about prisoners' rights overshadowing victims' rights
