Default A second bond on same charge?

I have been out on bond for over 16 months I went to court today and plead guilty and was scheduled to come back in a month when court was over my attorney and the DA said I had to post a new bond cause the old one was no longer valid. So I had to pay $500 to stay out of jail till sentencing has anyone else ever heard of this?????

Were you bumped from a lower court to a higher court? Yes, sometimes the bail amount is more.

original bail - the amount to keep you out pending the resolution of the case
resolution of the case - a finding of guilty or not guilty. When you pled, you were found guilty.
new bail (forget what it's called) - additional bail demanded to ensure you don't abscond now that you are guilty. They had every right to take you into custody the moment you pled guilty. They can up the bail anytime there's a material change in facts and circumstances that would impact the likelihood that you would abscond.

Other examples of when additional bail would be required:
new charges
violation of bail conditions
ties to community become materially weaker
finding of guilt
etc, etc, etc, etc, etc
