Default 16 Days to go! August 20, 2019 - Emotions High!

Today I felt super emotional and I wasn't sure why but I think it's because I know my guys release is a little over 2 weeks away. I sent out his release closes today and we're planning how he can get home and what we'll do when he does actually get to come home. This is his 2nd bid (technical parole violation) which was only 90 days plus the time he spent in jail before his sentence started, so a total of about 6 months when it's all said and done.

I met him after he came home from from his initial bid so I hadn't ever had to deal with this type of things and I honestly don't know that I could do it again. All I do know is that I'm so happy he's finally coming home and we can get him back on track to a positive post incarceration life! 2 more weeks

Not yet. Only that he has to report back. He's hoping they'll remain classified as misdemeanors and that his time at Willard will help the judge be lenient. He's been checking in with his counselors throughout his time to make sure he doesn't have any arrest warrants on record.

It's so close! I don't really know what to do to prepare. Like should I be doing anything specific. He's going to his parents house so there's nothing to do there.....maybe a welcome home gift?!?!

You mean, besides you wearing nothing but a smile? What's his favorite sport? Sports team? Perhaps a t-shirt or jersey with his team's logo, maybe a pair of jeans to go with it, if you can. If you can't, its perfectly ok. His favorite cologne? Your favorite men's cologne? LOL

The last couple of days before release: relax. Get a hair cut, do your nails, a wax, pedicure. Long hot bublebath with the drink of your choice. Do you

Such good ideas! Im planning to cook for him. I may do the mani pedi bubble bath thing to get myself pampered and them plan out a kick ass meal to make for him.

More anxiety!!! I sent his release clothes early this week and they still haven't arrived. In fact the last tracking has them in Phoenix Arizona even though me and his facility are both in NY. A mani pedi or a massage would be good for me right now.

Congrats!! That's how it be when you both excited and anxious at the same time. You definitely don't have that long to go now.

It won't be long now. I'm getting more and more excited every day. This has been a real test for us. The real work is going to have to happen once he gets out but I have such a good feeling right now!

I know he's anxious right now. When he writes he's all over the place and his anxiety is high but hes got some goals and a timeline so I'm confident that when he gets home he'll be on track. He's also been clean the whole time he's been at this facility so his head is clearer. I'm so excited to get back to us!

And so......why did he violate? I've done my share of parole violations and 6 months was always the norm. And like your loved one, it was about a month in the county and then off to ISF for 6 months. I dont' know how far he had to travel from the county jail to the unit you spoke of....Willard? From Dallas to the Baten Unit in Pampa Tx is like 360 miles. So, hopefully the time he spent inside is enough to keep him on track. He's lucky to have you. It can be a lonely and tiresome on the rebound experience. Most often when you're alone with no family or support, they throw away your i.d. and all your personal property when you transfer from the county to ISF and it's a real pain in the #ss having to replace all that. Hope the future is bright for you both.

Thank you very much for that. It's been a hard road. His violation was technical in that he left the state and since he got stopped by police in that state they called his parole officer and that was that. A lot of the programs are 6 months but the one he was sent to at Willard is only 97 days (unless he got kicked out or left - then he'd have to do his full year) so he got lucky and he knows it. He's ready to leave and to get a job and be an adult. About a year ago he told me "I'm not ready to be an adult yet..." but now his tune has changed a lot! I just hope it sticks. He has support of family and friends.... I want to introduce him to some "better" friends or at least ones that have his best interest at heart. He wants to be loyal to people who don't show him the same respect and that's what gets him into trouble. He's picked up some good habits like journaling and working out too which he plans to keep up. He actually likes doing it which is nice to hear.

He was in the process of getting his permit when he was locked up this time and requested that his personal property be sent to him parents but they ever received them. I really hope he doesn't have to go through getting all new cards again but only time will tell. 5 days and a wake up left!!!
