Hi Suzy, my visit is planned for Nov 2nd 2012. There are any older threads about visits at holman, and they are helpful but do not include newest informations. I'll keep you up to date what's going on!

Hi Suzy, I would like to visit both days, Monday the 2nd and Friday the 9th of November. It depends on the costs of it. In any case I'll have at least one visit - and I'm really really excited and nervous He's also

Like you, I fear the pain that'll appear when I must go back and leave him alone in this bleak prison. That's the price that's to pay for that happiness to see him face to face, to kiss and to hug, to hold hands... I believe, it'll be worth the sadness that'll come for sure.

Yes, I'm an American but currently living in Germany till the end of February 2017. My friend in at Dooly State Prison in Georgia. I actually was wondering how long it takes to get mail from them to here in Germany? I wrote my friend 3 letters and I had a tracking code put on them and they were delivered. I was wondering how long it takes to get letters back from them? I'm waiting on a letter from my friend. Danke :-)

I'm from Germany and my friend is in North Carolina. We've been writing for over 1,5 years and I just visited him in April.
Usually letters take about one week (7-10 days) from the US to Germany.

Tag!!

Thank you!! I was just curious. We just started writing to each other last month and I was wondering how long it takes. I keep looking out for the post lady that delivers the mail to our village. I actually called his Prison on Montag and the mail room clerk said that she remembers that he received my mail last Thursday because they had to track down what dorm assignment he was placed in. I didn't have that information to put on the envelope, so it took longer for him to get my letters. I'm so new to all of this. Does your friend call you here? can you get calls from him over here in Germany? I was thinking about sending my friend my number in his birthday card next week. Thanks for your help!!

Das mit den Briefen kann dauern, die Post aus dem Gefängnis ist manchmal echt lahm und unberechenbar...

I got an international SIM from Truphone. You usually get a main number which is UK but for (I think) $5 extra you can get a US number. See that you get a number with his area-code or even the same prefix, then it's even cheaper. But make sure he can call a mobile phone, he might not be able to... It depends on the prison.
The whole thing cost me around 20$ and you can put it in an extra phone. I put money on his account and each call which is 15 min. is $3,45. I have the same area code but was not able to get the same prefix as his prison, then it would only be a bit over $1,50 per minute.
Good luck!!

Default Mail concerns

What is the proper way to address an envelope to Germany, so that I can tell my pen pal? I think I might have told him wrong. I don't want it to get sent back to him because it wasn't addressed properly? I should have heard back from him by now and I'm just a little worried since he and I are new to each other. I keep looking out for the deutsch post. Thanks in advance

Same as you would do it sending a letter somewhere within Germany. My friends' letter arrive even with the postal code to the right of my city.
He should just copy your address the way you write it.

Name
Street
Postal Code City
Country
