We like it, it is referred to as "Camp Cupcake" and from what I've heard it is one of the better camps to be at.

It is a private prison run by GEO group. My friend says "I'm really lucky to be here". He has been to 2 other prisons, one being ACI. They have some programs not available at other facilities. The mail in and out moves fast, and the lady in the mail room has been very polite and helpful the few times I have called. I think it will be a good move for your husband.

We got to visit for the first time yesterday. Definitely better than ACI and FSP. Im not a fan of having to bend over the short tables to hold hands though. I wish it was more like Lawtey and had our door visits and lots of kissing. :-)

But he seems to like it.

My boyfriend got transferred there 12 days ago. He likes it. He sounds really good. Got a job and into a faith program. I didn't have to send a phone bill and it only took a couple of days before he could call. The phone provider is GTL. Sending money is through Access Corrections. No email service though. I don't know how is visitation but I'm hoping to visit within the next couple of months. Hope this helps someone.

My son is there, it is a good place to be, visitation is calm, they should have their JPay tablets up and running soon, probably by the beginning of August sometime. If you need any more information, please let me know.

Does Florida try to place inmates close to family? My fiancee is is Palm Beach county but we live in Georgia and all of his family is here. His attorney is sending a letter to request he go to Bay CF and told us to call his CO once he's at processing but just wondering if they actually attempt to put them close to home. 4 hrs is a lot easier of a drive for me than 9-10hrs

There are a lot of factors that go into where they place someone. Near as I can tell, the first two at the top of the list are their "threat" status (gang membership, likelihood of being targeted by others, etc) and bed space. After that, it starts getting murky. I think the official line is that they try to keep people close to their loved ones, but it seems more often than not that is not the way it turns out.

As usual with this process, hope for the best, plan for the worst. I have a loved one who is in a prison 9 hours' drive from me. I manage to see him 2x/year in a good year. But I write weekly and we stay in touch that way as much as possible.

I'm sorry you're having to go through this, it's a rough transition for everyone.
