Well, you know the rumor was that they were closing June 1st and that didn't happen. Now, the same sargeant is telling them July 1st, but I seriously doubt that's going to happen either. I don't see any information about any closings at all on the Georgia Department of Corrections website. Unfortunate!!

ladyshasta,
Does your fiance get receipts when he receives money on his store call? My son has yet to receive a receipt. I'm just wondering if that is normal for Emanual PDC.
Thanks.

Yes, the website is www.dcor.state.ga.us

I had to do a little research to find out what county Cedartown, Georgia is in. It's Polk County. All it is showing on the Georgia Department of Corrections website in Polk is the Polk County Jail.

Here is a link for the Sheriff's office
http://polk.gasheriff.net/

Hope this helps.
God Bless You.
Tammy

I haven't heard anything about any closings however the DOC told me that if they request a specific detention center or work release that it will take longer because they will be put on a waiting list to go to that specific one.

It would be nice to know more but what are they going to do with these people in the detention center for probation violations, that is a waste of money because they are barley feeding these people and can't afford it because of the budget.
At one time, there were TWO Emanuel Probation Detention Centers. One was the Twin City Unit, the other was the Swainsboro Unit. The Swainsboro Unit closed as a PDC and everyone there was transferred to another facility. The Swainsboro Unit later opened back up as a Transitional Center. I hope this clears up the confusion.

Just wanted to add a quick bit here... This thread was started in October of 2008 and here we are nearly a year later and everyone's still asking about the PDCs closing... One of the post even said they were all supposed to be closed by 2009 and I assume they're not since moma k's still banking on McEver to be the first!! LOL I guess that's gonna be a big ol' no, not for now!

well i live in swainsboro and there have been rumors on the etc closing but i have not yet heared about the pdc closing . i have had the chance to work with a lot of the etc guys and a lot of the pdc out of macon ga and they both are about the same when it comes to how they are treated . if any of you are having troubles with the system you should beable to contact your local county officers or the emanuel county sherriff office.
