Default Husband questioned for being a good husband!

So I just have to laugh this one off and share! My hubby just called to inform me that he was called up and questioned because of a paper some CO's found during a search. I have never been blessed with money management skills and since I was laid off in June, things have been really tight. So, my husband and I sat down last night, went over the income and all the expenses, including the due dates for the bills, to figure out how to manage with what we have. With the credit cards, lines of credit, monthly bills and other expenses, it was quite a list. I am blessed with the ability to spend money, not budget it. My husband is the financial genious of the house and I needed his help, so I bugged him till he agreed.
Apparantly, the CO going through his bunk found the monthly expense sheet he created with me and accused him of running a store. We have been on broke status for a few months so I found this very amusing. They checked his box, saw he was down to 3 soups, checked his books and found a whopping $5 on there which he has maintained for the last 4 months and then let him go with a "I'm watching you" lecture. Makes you wonder who runs a store with no money and nothing to sell?
My husband of course tells me that this is all my fault because I insisted that he go over the finances with me, which I did. As far as the CO's go, they can check with whomever and wherever they want. My husband is too focused on his parole coming up and getting home to be involved with anything in there.

You really have to wonder, do these CO's not have anything better to look for than a piece of paper, with notes that were probably pretty obvious as to what it was. Knowing a CO or two myself, they make decent money, perhaps they don't need to sit down and figure their finances.

Thanks for the chuckle though, I was also blessed with the spending skill!! )

What would even make them thing that, I can imagine if he were helping with a budget for you it would be like "Rent", "water", "cable" that sort of thing.. Geez. Some of the things they worry about seem so odd.
