Default Anyone done a 1389?

My husband has referred to filing a 1389 to try and take care of charges pending in another state while he is incarcerated in CA. I see that 1389 is the number of the CA Penal Code for Interstate Agreement on Detainers (which is same as MN Statute 629.294).

Has anyone gone through this process of filing a 1389?

Not only do we want to pursue a 1389, we also want to try and get him transferred to MN to do his time under the Interstate Corrections Compact (CA Penal Code 11189-11198/MN Statute 241.29). BARE MINIMUM we hope to get his parole transferred to MN (where all family is).

Anyone have any experience with any of this? It would be very much appreciated.

The institution housing him should get the 1389 done for him. It's a situation where everything has to be done perfectly for teh code section to apply, and at least in theory the social worker type whose job it is to get people of of prison and housed elsewhere for a while ought to do a better job of it.

If he sends a request to the Records Staff, they will complete the 1389, send it to the counselor to have the inmate sign it, and mail the forms Registered Mail, and track the timeframes.
