Ok so I went to visit this past Sunday. The facility is a small one and they are not quite ready for heavy visitors yet. The room is small, I beleive it was only 2 long tables and maybe 10 chairs for both tables. The vending machines were empty by Sunday, but the guard did inform us that she was doing a report to give to the Warden. Theyn are still working on this place, so if you go be patient with them. They were very friendly and very relaxed.

Shafter has only a visiting room set up for 5 inmates at a time.

!!!

You heard me right, 5
I arrived on Sunday about 9:30 and left at 2:00 there were about 8 inmates altogether. They also only allowed 3 visitors per inmate. So im glad I didnt brind the children because we would not have been able to see him. Its 4 of us altogether.

Hi Ladies just wanted to share - I went to go visit my BF this weekend for the first time since his arrival. I got to say it was a very pleasant visit this facility is really laid back the officers are very very nice they weren't too strict on the dress code I seen alot of ladies come in with tight skirts/dresses & blouses. The visiting room is a little too small and it was busy/crowded but overall I had a great visit. I arrived at 10 and by the time I got in I would say was 11/11:30 so I was able to stay until the end of the visit I noticed and assume that those that arrived early their visits were terminated a little earlier I think its a 3 hours max.

I had to re apply to get approved. They were slow in the beginning with their paper work so they had all of us re apply. Once I reapplied it took a week and he told me I was approved.

As of right now there is no appointment needed. Just be prepared to have your visit cut short if it becomes over crowded. There visiting room is very small and I have been there when they have asked people to leave after a 2 hour visit so they can accommodate every one.

No, unfortunately they don't. The facility is extremely small (visiting) and when it gets overcrowded they only allow you to visit for 2 hours maximum, unless you travel more than 250 miles I believe. Also, the officers there are real assholes. My husband has been there since 2014.
