Four North Carolina inmates and four prison employees have now been diagnosed with COVID-19, the state’s prison commissioner announced Thursday.
Two of the inmates who’ve tested positive are housed at Neuse Correctional Institution, in eastern North Carolina. The other two are at Caledonia Correctional Complex and Johnston Correctional Institution, also in eastern North Carolina. The staff members, meanwhile, worked at Johnston Correctional Institution, Central Prison in Raleigh, and Eastern Correctional Institution and Maury Correctional Institution in eastern North Carolina.

This has been frustrating to watch. They did not stop work release until last week and in once facility they are splitting a dorm in half making one side the quarantine area. They need to figure something out quickly for the safety of everyone!!

Yes. I talked with him today. He said he has not been able to get a call through to you. I don’t know why that is!!! They are confined to their dorm rooms he can’t even walk outside nor even go to lunchroom. He called around 830 this morning and they had not even had breakfast. They usually have it around six. They’re going to be in total lockdown and they will bring lunch bags which consist of only baloney and bread. Which is extremely unhealthy. But he seems at peace.

Four employees, found offenders in NC prison system test positive for COVID-19
NORTH CAROLINA (WBTV) - Four offenders and four employees within the North Carolina prison system have tested positive for COVID-19 as of Thursday afternoon, state leaders said.
The additional cases involve offenders who were previously in isolation and are continuing in medical isolation.
“This was not a surprise to us and we are following CDC infectious disease protocols,” Commissioner of Prisons Todd Ishee said. “Our top priority is the health and safety of our staff and the men and women who are in our care.”
