Prison College Schedule: Anyone have a LO enrolled in college courses in NY
Good Morning All! My friend is taking the bard college courses for an associates degree. He says he has class mornings, afternoons and even some night classes. Is this how every semester is going to be? Does anyone else have a LO enrolled in college courses in New York?

If suspicious, call jail ask if they have night classes.
Those enrolled and taking the opportunity seriously tend to use free time for studying, computer access, or just time to use gym.
Bard college has a great program in some prisons in NY. you can check out their standard web page, or look at some of the other college outreach that they have with high school students and the like by looking up Bard College at Simon's Rock.
They have regular professors go into the prisons and teach. The credits that people get transfer if they get out and decide to go someplace else for college. Bard is expensive when it comes to those of us on the outside, but I believe it is covered by the Pellets Grant initiative instituted by Pres. Obama.
It will give you the low down on the prison initiative, what the program looks like, and what to expect. Do expect the students to work hard and to get a lot out of the experience.
