Delivered Mail...how long does it take once it reaches the facility?
I Checked my amazon account today and it said that one of the books i sent to my pp was delivered today at 12.35pm in the afternoon, now will she get it today or will she have to wait till tommorow?.
Any Idea how long it takes for Prison mail rooms to process mail in time for mail call??
It depends on the mail room. My man has gotten letters in 3 days and others in 5-6 days. Last week I sent him a letter on Monday and he didn't get it until Saturday or Sunday. But I sent him a letter on Tuesday which was a continuation of the Monday letter and he got that by Friday.
I think it varies depending on the state/security level, etc. In my case, the mailroom seems to be pretty fast. Usually if I send a letter on Monday, he will get it on Wednesday.

Mines too..he gets letters really fast..one time he got it the next day
FL is super slow getting mail out. My letters from TN can get to my man in FL within 6-9 days, sometimes sooner and sometime longer. When he mails out to me, it only takes 3 days tops to get to me!
I would probably post this question under the board to the specific facility you're wondering about. The prisons I have experience with though are fairly quick. Just like regular mail. When I write my fiance or another friend of mine in Michigan, they get it in 4 business days from the time I put it in the mail. When I write my friend in TX, she gets it in 3 days. I guess this also depends on the distance you live from the facility you're sending mail to as well. But like I said before, with the prisons I've dealt with...mail sorting time has yet to be an issue. However, I have a friend in FL that writes to someone at a prison in California, and it takes weeks sometimes. This is why it's such a difficult question to answer...it's different for everyone.

Books can take longer to be delivered than regular mail. Some places have an "approved" list of materials, and if the book or magazine is not on that list, they send it to a review committee. And like most-things-DOC... they'll get to it when they get to it.

Bet the DOC moan when THEIR official mail is slow in coming...

In SC prisons, books go through Property Control delaying their delivery. My husband normally gets books within a week after they're delivered, but I've also had them take a month because the PC worker was on vacation. It really all depends, but she will receive an OTR to go to Property Control to collect the book unless they give it to her dorm's CO to be delivered (rarely happens).
Just as a suggestion, you might want to try and post in the SC regional forum to get my SC-specific answers. Every state, every facility is different so what might happen in TN or GA may not happen in SC and so on.
In VA no one can send their loved ones anything. We have to put money on their accounts and they can order it from a catalog of pre-approved items. That takes months for them to get. However, mail is pretty fast getting there...takes forever at times getting to me...so I guess I will take the good with the bad.

Hardly anyone replies in the Sc forum when you post something...
