Hey Girl My ex is in Southern State. I know that it is supposed to be a pretty easy ride in there. They are not in cells, they are housed dormatory style in trailers. Six to 8 per trailer. The thing that is mostly complained about is the lack of privacy. On the other hand, they can go outside pretty much whenever. Not like being limited to a cell. My ex is on a baseball team and likes that. He also works every morning. They have some kind of concrete manufacturing jobs there where they make things for resale. Also make sheds, which is what my ex is doing, him being a carpenter on the outside. He claims that it isn't so bad being there. I'm not saying that it's a picnic, but much better than some of the other prisons. Actually, from what I have heard, this is one of the prisons that they want to be sent to. I've also heard that the cos aren't too bad there either and visits are pretty nice. You have to check though as far as visits because there are 2 sections and they rotate each month which one is morning and which one is afternoon, so find out before you make the drive. MrsPhil knows alot about this place, as her husband was there. Take care!!!

Like nLovinmenow has said, Southern State isn't as bad as some places. They are housed inn trailers, however there are more than 6 or 8 to a trailer. I'm not sure about compound B but in compound A there are only six trailers so there arre a lot of men in each one. Phil did not like the trailers. He prefers a cell so that he can have a TV. He isn't one to go to the day room. The visits there were not bad when he was there. You can go both Saturday and Sunday however they do rotate each month between the compounds. So one month you would have morning visits and the next month they would be in the afternoon. Dress code used to be very easy but I hear they are more strict now.

It was great for me when Phil was there. It was only 20 minutes from my house! Now he is two hours away!

Hi Andrea!! I had heard that it was only six to eight per trailer, but maybe the person who told me was confused about what was written to her and meant six per compound! What you said makes more sense! Oh, by the way, I'm in NJ and having a real rough time. I can't wait to get back to Florida!!
