college courses in prison for free? And parole hearing info available online??
My oldest son says you can take college courses while inside free of cost. I don't think so unless it's through the mail. Does anyone know about this? Also my son that is in prison told his dad there is a site you can go to to find out WHY they were denied parole and what was said at the hearing. Anyone here know what site he is referring to? I know there are sites where you can get anyone's prison record but you have to register to use the site and that will cost you. Anyone know about this?
I think at one time you could take college classes for free, not any more. There are some schools that offer correspondent classes. You may want to check and see if you can apply for financial aid while incarcerated to help with the tuition.
On the parole results, I don't think all info on parole hearings is available on the internet. There was a thread on this topic not too long ago. I'll look around for it. I think it depends if the hearing was "public" or not and I'm confused on what makes it public.

The only parole hearing information online is that of parolable lifers as they are public hearings... the rest are not available. The MDOC has been saying they are going to make hearing information public for quite sometime, but the state is always very sloooooow to get it done!
DJB's is also correct on the college courses. These are no longer available.

Well that was what I told my oldest son. He used to be a guard at an Indiana prison and said those guys could get college courses .I told him I didn't think they could anymore, unless through correspondence. I knew at one time you could.
I talked to my son , the one at camp, and he told me he didn't say there was a website, he said we could call the parole board. My husband had it wrong.
