It says to expect it to go through within 48 hours I believe but it usually goes through the first 12 or so unless it's a weekend/holiday. There's apparently no one screening the "email" on the weekends and so like regular mail it sits and waits until Monday.
do they print out your 'email' and send it via regular mail?
I'm not sure exactly how it works on the receiving end but my understanding is it goes to DOC computers and they print it out, check over it and distribute it at daily mail call.

Yeah, they print out the 'email' on a regular piece of paper and deliver it when they deliver the mail....depending on what time you send the email, they'll get it either that day or the next....but on weekends it doesn't move at all.
You can send pics too but I think it's like $1.00 extra....I haven't done it yet but I have a few friends that I can jpay letters too and it rocks out!
Here they give him 15 minutes of computer time twice a day. He has to read and respond in the amount of time given and so I try to keep my letters short. Not an easy task being that I'm so long winded. They use their ID cards to swipe in. At one point his was getting too worn and he had to get another before he could check his "email".
The amount of time given to each inmate isn't the same. I believe it depends upon their custody level, etc. He's currently minimum custody.
