Question Work Release Absconders (Florida), what happens when they're caught?

What happens to an inmate that leaves work release & is caught? Do they go straight back to prison? Just jail? How bad of a situation is that (how long would they be locked up for again?)

And is there a way I can look and see if my inmate has absconded?

Thanks for the help.

Absconding from work release does several things.

First, they typically lose gain time on their current sentence and their custody level is increased significantly (no minimum level like if they were just sent back for a run of the mill rules violation). They end up with more time to do and doing it in not too pleasant surroundings.

Second, they will get an escape charge and be facing five more years.

Not good.

You can find out on the DOC website if they have absconded using the inmate search tool that yeskaluv posted.
