Default Allenwood LOW: Husband & 12 others in SHU since March 12. How long in SHU?

Hey everyone!! This is my 1st time on here so any info would be greatly appreciated. My husband has been at Allenwood low for almost 3 years now. He's always minded his business & never got into any trouble. I found out that something happened there I guess, & they threw him along with 12 other guys in the shu for investigation. Did anyone hear about this? He's been in there since March 2nd & he only called me once. Does anyone know how long they keep inmates in the shu at Allenwood?

My guess is he would remain in the SHU until the investigation is complete. Then depending on the results of the investigation, there might be disciplinary action such as loss of privileges or more time in the SHU, the length of time could vary. I hope he writes you a letter soon! My guy has been in the SHU (at numerous USP's) so I know the waiting stinks.

Thanks so much for your reply. Well I know he's written me numerous letters, but for some reason I only received 1 of his letters. They must be holding onto his letters for some reason. Is that normal you think?

No problem! Yeah, a lot of times mail is delayed while in the SHU.

Investigations take as long as the bop wants them to take. If he is cleared, he will be released from the SHU. If not, he will receive a conduct shot and his punishment will be decided in a hearing.

He can make one short phone call after he has been in the shu for 30 days. He had all of his property locked up, so he may have difficulty (very limited commissary) getting stamps and stationary to reply to your letters. But he will receive them, so keep writing.

This happened around the 15th or 16th. So did your husband get out of the shuttle yet?

No they still have him in the shit hole. It's been 3 weeks now. If it takes them 3 weeks to "investigate" someone, then obviously they can't find anything on that person cause they didn't do anything wrong. Do you know why Allenwood low had that shut down for 5 days? Thanks, any information is greatly appreciated!!

Being in the SHU for an "investigation" has definitely been used as an unofficial punishment, for as long as they want him to remain there. My guess is that it is rare for anyone to be released without some sort of conduct shot/violation in order to justify what they did to him.

yes you're right, it's so crazy!! The prison system is definitely a whole different world on its own. I hope to hear from him soon & he tells me he is back in general population. I'll keep you guys posted. Thank you.

And I don't understand, if someone is being "investigated" why do they throw them in the shu?? If found guilty of something then they should throw them in the shu after they do their "research". Makes more sense to me, but maybe I just think logical (unlike them).

No, I am not sure why they were locked down. One member said her son said it was for something non violent. Hope he gets out soon.
