Default Coming Home July 25th 2018 after 14 Years

Hey Everyone, so I've ghosted on Prison Talk for much of the last four years. Today I decided to finally make a profile, as I wanted to countdown to my husband coming home with other people. It has been such a long time coming and I can't believe it is almost here. 55 more days!

Thank you for posting! I forgot I had made an account a few years ago and when I made a new one it found it and combined the two. Last weekend I went up to visit for the last time before I go to get him (we live very far away from each other). Everything is set up for his release and ready to go! Just a few more weeks!

Thanks! I've been reading your posts on some other threads and I think we have a lot in common in our relationships. I am living vicariously through you for the next 8 days lol It is helpful to get to see someone else do it first and know that will be you in just a few more weeks. thanks girl

It's starting to feel somewhat real, today I mailed in his release clothes, god I hope they fit. I think I now have all of the "things" he needs now to come home comfortably and have a head start. So now I'm going to try and save the rest of what money I have for the trip home. It will take us four full days of driving to get back home, I am so looking forward to all that alone time with him!

The last little bit of this has been so incredibly difficult. I am very excited for him to come home, but he is freaking out and being very mean/ manipulative about everything. Something tiny or ridiculous will happen, he'll blow it out of proportion and take it out on me, we'll argue or he'll just hangup and I'll be upset for a while, and then he'll apologize and things will go back to normal for a day and then it starts all over again. I know he is very nervous and stressed out about coming home after such a long time, but I am worried about how this type of dealing with stress will transition once he comes home. He says he won't be like this at all because it's the environment there that fuels most of his anxiety, I get that it contributes to it, but I think it's unrealistic to expect that one day he'll just walk out of there and be a totally different person.

I want to spend this last little bit being excited and looking forward to being together, I am, but it's often overshadowed. I am really tired of constantly having my feelings hurt and being the whipping post, and I'm scared it won't change when he gets here. I want to be with him, so I'm going to try really hard to make this work, all of the unknown is just really difficult.

Its called Short Timers Syndrome. IMHO, the longer the bid, the worse the coming home jitters. Besides all the "what-ifs" that you both have about the future, he also has to contend with inmates who would screw up his release in a heartbeat if he doesn't stay alert, keep a low profile & pay attention to what's going on around him.

Have you read through any of the "sticky" threads in the Coming Home forum? They may help you understand where his thoughts (and stress / irritation / agitation / nerves are coming from

Take a deep breath. Go sit in the purple chair for a while....and just breathe HERE

Yes, it is just very different to read/ know about something and actually experience it and have all of that unhealthy energy and anger blasted at you everyday. I am feeling somewhat better about it now, I'm just going to try and allow myself to enjoy the time left not get so caught up in his roller coaster emotions, because it honestly doesn't matter what I do or how I try to be there to support him, he is just going to be the way that he is right now.
