If he gets sentenced tomorrow they will transfer him one or 2 days after that to another building (at least that's what they did with my b/f). If he still has other court dates he should be staying where he is.

About the stamps., I know my b/f sends me mail, I guess he buys the stamps with the money in his commisary.

When you leave him commissary, you can leave him socks, underwear, tshirts, tank tops, envelopes, stamps, writing pads, books to read and sneakers. Call the house that he is in and ask them what can he receive. Each house is different on the island.

Sorry, but I had a good chuckle when I read "can he come home and sign the birth certificate". I went through the same thing 8 years ago. My kids father was in Rikers when I gave birth to my oldest son, Khalil. Assuming you're not married, you'll have to get a form from the hospital to bring to him. It's a paternity acknowlegement form. He'll have to sign it and have it notarized in there. Just a word of advice...Rikers is not really a great place for newborns. BUT..I understand, as I said, I was in your shoes my damn self. Now, unless they changed it, F.Y.I. the baby does NOT need any set amount of shots to get in. My son was 2 weeks old when he met his daddy for the first time and it was in Rikers. I remember they were real assholes about bottles and diapers. But, every house is different. Some are better than others. You'll have to call ahead and speak with the captain. And be sure and ask what sort of Id do you need for the baby, cuz you will have to wait a minute for the b.c. Hope that helps and good luck to you.
God bless,
Lisa

This is what your going to do ( does he have a visit today?)
Take the E train to Queens Plaza (3rd cart from the front)
Go up the stairs and follow the sign in the token booth that says Q101 to rikers Island
Go out the train station, walk to corner and you'll see the corner store and other people waiting for the bus, the bus takes you across the bridge, just follow the crowd to the line,

If you need anymore directions PM me

The best thing to do is wait till you visit him to bring him regular clothes because each house has a list of colors not permited and how many of each item you can leave. You can give him 10 stamps each visit or even mail them in a letter or when he goes to com. he can buy the envelopes with the stamp inprinted on it. If you have anymore questions let me know, I've been dealing with the Island for too long now. Hope the info helps.

My husband was in NIC for med treatment and you don't have to strip. All they make you do is take your sneakers off and shake them out, pull your socks half way off so they can see the soles of your feet, open your mouth, shake your hair, and lift and shake your bra, and check your pants pockets this way they see your not trying to bring something in to him. Unfortunetly he won't be coming home for the birth of your child, I had to deal with that 6 yrs ago. It's hard but your get over it. Just make sure you bring the paper for him to sign, explain your situation to the nurse at the hospital and they'll give you a paper. Good Luck..

You can also take the NR or 7 train to Queens plaza tehn catch the Q101 bus. I'm so glad I'm done with Rikers it was alot of work for that hour visit but enjoy all the same.

Oh okay thanks. The only problem is i'm in Canada right now on my own charges so i can't even visit him, unless they let me leave to come back home, so everything i'm gonna have to mail to him. On the list it says pencils and paper.. I can mail him pencils?

Default basketball shoes

As long as they don't have air chambers in them you can send them, but they specifically told me no nike, jordans or la gear and any shoe with air chambers. Maybe it depends on which house he is in. Mine is in C 76 so thats all I really know about.

Hi, I live in Brooklyn, close to Queens.
FYI.. there is no longer a GG, RR or EE train. To get to Queens Plaza, you take the E, G, R or V to Queens Plaza Station;
N, W or 7 to Queensboro Plaza Station or F train to Queensbridge Station. The NYC subway system changed. A lot of routes are shorter and there are new lines like the V & W. As for the bus transfers, I'm not sure cause I don't really take them but if you call 718 330 1234, they give you info.

You can send him paper as for the pencils they hadve to be soft and with no eraser, its better if he buys a pen in comis. and the sneakers its better if you get like new balance, adidas, kswiss, reebok, anything thats plain, with no bubble or chambers.

He has to buy the stamps from commisary. You could send envelops with the stamps imprinted on it. Be careful of what you send clothing wise because if he is sentenced and he's send upstate he would not be permitted to bring those clothing articles with him.

No Nike airs at all. No new balance at all. No sneakers with air chambers like Reebok Iversons.
