Anyone know the protocol for moving probation from 1 state to another??
We are planning on a move back home to Ca (been in VA for 5 yrs) in approx 18 mths). Kevins PO says it shouldn't be a problem, but didn't go into detail about what's needed. I've heard (rumor) that it costs a pretty penney to move probation and they receiving state may not take you. Any idea of the fees involved? If it's too much, we hope his 5 yr probation will be cut in half if he's perfect and fines and restituion is paid on and if we have to, we'll wait - but he's been offerred an asst pastor job that they are holding for him for as long as it takes - but the pastor is already seeming antsy. I don't want him to miss the opportunity (he's a youth pastor/counselor now taking time off to heal and regroup before geting back into ministry).
Is it a huge amt of $$ and how hard is it to get a state ( a busy state like Ca) to want to receive him?? All of our family is their, so hopefully that'll help.
Any info appreciated!!
Blessings!

Here is a link to parole information in California, which should include information on the Interstate Compact. If not, let me know and I'll see if I can find other information for you.
Marci, it's not a very difficult process.... I transferred mine to different counties in the same state... then from NC to TX... then back to NC again!
I didn't have to pay any fees... only whatever the probation fee was every month.
Location: crow wing county, state of minnesota, usa

I have just today registered; I found this webpage after putting a search into Google about paroling someone from Idaho to Minnesota. I was immediately put to your name. I would appreciate any information you can provide. My brother is in prison in Boise, Idaho and hopefully will be paroled in 2006, but he would like to come to Minnesota once he is paroled and from what I understand he needs a plan in place. Suggestions? Blessings, PATTI0913
I transferred probation from Texas to Minnesota. It was no problem at all. Just told probation officer my husband's job was moving us. There were no fees.
that is so wonderful that is going back into ministry and is being offered that position! The Lord will grant you favor!
