I am not sure...if I were you, I would check with my probation officer and the facility your Dad is in (Huntsville) to be sure.

As stated above, first you will have to clear it with your probation officer. Then you will have to get approval from the unit warden. If approved, the unit warden will send you a letter that you carry with you each time you go visit....just to ensure there are no problems. If the Senior Warden changes on the unit (or he is transferred), then you will need to go through the process again. You should also notify your PO when you plan on visiting. Keeps you in good graces. Most get approved. Shouldn't be to difficult since he is family. Best of luck.
Doing 30 Flat by choice. Not everything you hear is the truth. Anyone can put a spin on things to distort your view from the outside looking in.

My husband is on felony parole. He got a letter from his PO...it states my husband's name, gives permission, and says the current inmates name and TDC#. We are in Houston, by the way. Then, we had to call the warden's office of the inmates current location. Give them the info, sometimes fax the letter and then the warden approved it within the week. We called back on Friday, asked if it was approved, they said yes. You absolutely have to bring that original letter with you. At Telford, the only difference was that Records Dept actually took the information to get the wardens approval and they never asked to see the letter...just had to bring it with us. We did not have to get a new letter with each visitation, but it does have to have a date within the last few months.

Check with you officer first. Your dad should and will have to have you
on his list. Beleive me they check that list. But in most cases they
do allow it. Just cover all bases but be sure you are on his list and
you have your valid Id and probably your TDC id that you have to
carry all the time. But you probably won't have a problem
