Halfway house phone calls - Warning! Collect calls aren't inexpensive!!

My husband was not accepted by the state of Vermont per an Interstate Compact mandatory transfer request and was released to a halfway house in Detroit. He called collect the first night he was there and we talked for an hour and a half. I believed that it would be a reasonable rate since it wasn't from prison, but when I got my bill that one call cost me $235.00. Anyone finding themselves in this situation, don't assume that just because your man isn't locked up that your bill will be lower. I got a phone card and gave him the numbers off it so he could use that. We talked that week for 13 hours for $40.00.

It's INSANE!!!! And generally, any type of collect calls are going to be EXPENSIVE!!
