XO, Im so sorry for your loss of your friend and neighbor.
How scary. I can see why you are freaked out. Being there and not being able to do anything.
And from what it sounds like, Im sure you made her time better by just being there.

Deep breaths. Slowly. Also glad others will be there with you at the church.
(((big hugs)))

xolady, that's a hard one to go through, between the death and the blood and the cleaning and all the rest. But you did it! Now take a break and collapse!

I'm good I went to the church service and to the cemetery her son's did very well by her. Her memorial card which here is different then I was used to but I was actually mentioned as one of her closest friends in the orbit. I was very touched that they did that. I know she would have been pleased with how beautiful things were done. I really miss her and I think I was very blessed to know her. She was a wonderful friend and so much fun and just loved life. I used to feel so bad because she had it really rough and I am not as ill and have so much more in someways, but she was like a ray of sunshine never complained about how shitty life can be. She really helped me when I first moved here and was sick. How could I dare complain about being a diabetic when she had no kidneys!!!LOL She made my life so much richer then it had been!!!

Ok guys.......I DID it!
I made bacon wrapped meat loaf.
Holy cow it was good.
Made meat loaf (usual mix of stuff) put it on a oven safe dish, and baked it semi covered for about 30 min.....then I (hold the phone) USED my broiler for a bit...like maybe 8-10 min...and back to bake for maybe another 10.
Came out perfect. Bacon, crispy..meat cooked.

What does your New Year's dinner consist of? I am going to get collards the next time I do Wal Mart - I have them down to an art for those of us that like onion, garlic, sausage & red pepper. I have to force myself to eat black eyed peas.

Black eyed peas, cabbage, stewed tomatoes, rice, steak. I was going to do turnip greens, but the cabbage looked great!!! I am doing the black eyed peas from scratch. I love them and so far they smell good!!! I was going to do this New Years Eve but I wasn't up to anything that night!

Yeah, I am sure your New Year had some dark spots.

I made cabbage soup yesterday. Well, actually it was borscht, but nobody here knows what that is. It turned out bland - I have been trying to think of a way to up it. Might add a bit of Better Than Boullion.

About that meatloaf....cut your veggies - green and red peppers, and carrots, and you can even add corn very finely chopped broccoli....whatever you want - and add it into the meat just before you shape and cook it! You really don't notice them much, but it makes a more balanced meal without 'men' noticing that they're in there. You can still roast some potatoes in the pan to convince yourself it's a full meal.

I know right? (about using the broiler) Trust me, I had my eye on the oven the whole time. I kept getting up from the computer (which is in the same room)
Had the light on inside and I kept opening the door to check it. When the bacon looked crispy enough I turned it off (the broiler part)

I too like veggie in the meatloaf but no one else does. So I stopped adding it.

Im not much of one to cook bacon. I cant even remember the last time I had any and even longer the last time I cooked it. But hub brought some home the other day after a costco run. (all the rest are in the freezer. I dont want it to go bad)

Hub also bought one of the premixed salads that includes the dressing and toppings in a small baggie within the bag of greens. I really like that salad. It went perfect with the smoky flavor of the meatloaf.
I think its was labeled mediterrainian (sp) mix.

Only trouble is, no one was home last night for dinner. We gonna be having meatloaf for a few more meals. lol.

I used my broiler for steaks last night and I'm sorry I haven't used it more often because of that quick high heat!!! I was like standing over it the whole time, but everything turned out great!!!

I do. It’s a Philips. I like it fair enough as it does more than fry. Cooks quickly and crispy.

Well I have been sick and in the hospital so glad to be home except I'm still really sick. I have pneumonia I am getting better but OMG it's been hell. I was fine last Saturday and by Sunday night I was dying couldn't breath, 103 fever. So I had a week of not eating so I watched the food channel 24-7. Hopefully I will just lose those extra pounds, and not screw up my body anymore then it already is. I had 1/2 a cup of chicken noodle soup yesterday and was so uncomfortable all day. So today I'm going to try toast. I might get my neighbor to pick up some No Sugar added Ice cream. I don't know the coughing is finally a little loser and I don't want to make it worse.

Oh no!
The flu has been running thru our state as well.
Top it off, and now Im getting *something*
I feel ok, but can tell my throat is scratchy. Hoping its just a thing, and not the flu.

I did get a flu shot so hopefully it might help. I know, the flu strain they vaccinated for isnt the one making the rounds....but one can hope.

Chicken noodle soup, xo lady. Or spicy some kinda soup.
take care of yourself.

Gotta figure out what to make tonight for dinner.
thawed out some burger meat, and thinking spaghetti.
Unless I hit the store and get some ricotta and mozerealla (sorry butchered the spelling) for a lasagna....oh, and some spinach too.

I'm so sick of being sick!!! I can't eat and I have to keep drinking fluids!!! I took my last antibiotic today, but I'm still so damned sick. I have to go to drs office in the morning and I just feel to bad to drive. Plus its only 25 degrees and it feels to cold to breath! I've been surviving on V-8 and water!!!
