Default "short way out" ?

My boyfriend said he had received a form that showed his "short way out" was in 2 1/2 years? What does "short way out" mean? His probation was revoked in Dec. 2003 and was sentenced to 8 years in tdc. His parole eligibility date is 9/4/04; his prd is 6/13/07. Any info would help. Thanks...

He was picked up on Nov. 2003 after 2 1/2 years of running for failure to report to probation. He went to court in Dec. 2003 where his probation was revoked and was sentenced to 8 years in tdc. He was at Nueces County jail until Feb. 2004 when they transferred him to Beeville (Garza-West). He was at Garza-West for about 3 weeks when he was transferred to Cotulla Transfer Facility in late Feb. And that is where he is for now.

his short way is the 07 date....and what used to be called mandatory supervision. Prior to 1996 and if your offense was parole eligible, one the flat/work/good time = sentence length, they let you go on mandatory supervision. This was change in 1996, and while the calculation is still considered, release is now discretionary up to the board. (Short way is parole, long way is maxing out the sentence, day for day).
