Police: Local Corrections Officer Has Sex With Inmate
All I can say is wow!
"OKEECHOBEE, Fla. -- Police in Okeechobee County said that a corrections officer was caught having sex with an inmate.
Florida Department of Corrections Representative Gretel Plessinger said a staff member at the Okeechobee Correctional Institution claimed that Corrections Officer Betty Bohannan was caught by other corrections officers having sex in her office with an inmate..."
Did the article say how long this woman worked for the DOC? I wonder if she got the job just to be with him in the first place? I looked his picture up and--YIKES! Scary looking man! (Although to be honest, all of their pics make them look like ax-murderers) But I wonder--how does something like this happen? I mean, I understand why from the prisoners point of view, but from the CO? She didn't care about her career, obviously--but what kind of a lonely and sad love life must she have had in the first place to get involved? She admitted it was an "on going" thing too. What burns me up most is that more than likely, this inmate has a woman out there somewhere who (like most of us out here) is being faithful when there are temptations everywhere--and no one would ever know. If my man did something like this, I would understand, but I could never forgive him.

No the article didn't say how long she worked there but I believe she started in 2002 or 2003.

I doubt she got the job just for him as she had a husband and 3 kids when she started. However, I heard she dumped the husband and children for this inmate.

This happens because officers and inmates are human beings. I am not defending this officer, especially when it comes to having sex on the job, but as a former officer I do understand.

Wow, that's a little harsh. Again, I'm not defending her but just because an officer becomes involved with an inmate doesn't mean he/she is desperate.

From what I understand he used to have some woman visiting every weekend. I don't know if she still is or not.

A guy that I'm friends with that got released told me all sorts of lovely stories from the camps he was at. One of the ladies flashed him several times and another asked for his new address before he left. And it was XXX flashing if u know what I mean... Just based on what he said, I would assume that this kind of stuff happens more than we like to think. Not cool!

Well I am sorry to say it would have only been a matter of time before it came out... I am not sure if it goes for Florida but I do know in a lot of different states its rape if a Officer has sex with an inmate whether the inmate says it was consensual or not. She may be in more trouble then just losing a job...

FL is one of those states. She'll be lucky if all she gets is her certification revoked. I'm hoping she gets brought up on charges. There is a line one doesn't cross, she crossed it and played bingo!
it seems a bit fishy that they could/would not do the rape kit if she was going to pay for it...
Unfortunately I've learned from my own experience that rape kits cannot be performed unless charges are being filed for sexual assault. She is claiming that nothing happened therefore no charges can be filed hence no rape kit. Also, she went in almost 18 hours after she was supposedly caught. If it didn't show anything DOC would just brush it off saying she took a shower.
Many remark were made to my younges son when he was in such as "if I looked as good as you do in those blues I would get me some" he just brushed it off he wanted to come home. The womem guards were always trying to hit on him. When I had all three sons at home i was always running the girls off. They chased them something real bad. Raising boys was a challenge to say the least. Think it just something about tall blue eyed men. Fell for one my self.
