Update! Had the first visit today. It was incredible. There was nothing better than seeing him face to face and strengthening what we were both already feeling. And the kisses....omg. I can't wait to go back tomorrow.

That's so awesome! Were you a ball of nerves going in? I can hardly wait to experience it all myself. Congratulations!

I was insanely nervous but I felt instantly at ease the second I saw him. The 2nd visit today was even better. I love him so much. Leaving was the awful part. I held it together but cried back at the hotel. I have his mom here with me and I was smiling but she looked at me and asked if I was feeling sad and the tears just came. I don't want to go home without him.

I'm sooo happy to hear it went so well but I can relate to how bittersweet it can be! Leaving without him is the hardest part!

No and I'm starting to get very frustrated ! At first it was oh, I'll send you the form soon, blah blah blah. Now it's " I feel embarrassed because I feel like you're better than me, I don't want you to see how I live". I'm starting to feel annoyed. And like there's something else going on. It's not like I don't know where you live dude! My patience is running low 😑 Rant over. Lol!

I agree with you , you know where he is and you know what a prison is like. You will be going to see him not where he is having to live just now. Maybe there is another reason he is so reluctant for you to visit? I would press for some answers.

The way I see it, your SO really might not want you to see how he lives. Period. If you were in the same shoes, I don't doubt you would feel the same. Prison is hard on anyone, and trying to face someone who depends on you makes it even worse. You see me? Your SO is probably ashamed of their position in the system, and doesn't want you to see them like that. This is the lowest point in their life, and your support is going to have to go to new levels if the relationship is to survive. Be understanding, and encouraging any way you can. Being on the other side of the fence is draining, I admit it, but in the end it's our support that wil see them through. Don't give up on your SO, or you could miss out on something great! This isolation makes them realize how much they need you. Be patient. Be supportive. You won't regret it.

That's what I'm thinking! At first he's the one that brought it up after a few months, and I've never pushed it. One of my dear friends asked me to accompany her to a visit with her and I brought it up to him and he FLIPPED HIS SHIT he's like I don't have you come visit me because of my situation and my embarrassment and you want to visit someone else, yadadada... idk where to go with this. I understand it's difficult for him to cheat while being inside, but since we did "M"WI i feel like there's still so much to learn about this other person and vice versa. I just don't know how to bring it up again without seeming like I'm hounding or pushing ?

Hello i met my MWI 7 months ago, we been together for 4 months, we exchanged photo's, talk everyday on the phone. but haven't met each other yet in person. he was 8 hours away from me but got transfer to a prison closer, hes now only an hour away, i sent my visiting form in but got denied cause im on informal probation and the prison needs a written letter giving me permission to visit from my probation officer. i called the prison letting them know im on informal probation and i dont report to know one. but they said i need that letter to visit. which is BS. but finally after calling the courthouse, public defenders office & probation office i finally got a hold of someone who is gonna look into on getting me that letter. cause this is the first time someone has requested a permission letter to visit a prison. so im praying i get my letter soon. im ready to meet my man in person

Not sure if I commented on this, but I did finally meet my love after 3 years lol. I wasn't crazy about all of the questions on the visitation form. he proposed very soon, so we were gonna get married by proxy, but I really wanted a big wedding and only wanted to do it once. but anyway, I finally went last May to visit and it was the best thing ever. since we don't live in the same state, we video chat every weekend. its not the same, but means so much.

I started off writing my MWI as friends about 5 1/2 months ago. It grew into something great and I went to see him a little over a week ago. It was the best thing I could have done.
