The federal government is looking for contractors to build a possible detention center in the Los Angeles area that would hold up to 2,200 illegal immigrants and others suspected of violating immigration laws.

Geez, I wasn't going to leave a comment about this article until I read the last paragraph. For some reason it seems pretty twisted that illegal detainee's would/should have more rights to be near their homes and families, and meanwhile we have thousands of US citizens that are being transferred across the country and away from their homes and families. Where's the hoopla about that? And why has this issue been so "politically incorrect" to talk about anymore??? Sorry, but this just hit a nerve with me.

Arulanantham said that if immigration authorities plan to continue detaining large numbers of immigrants, they should keep them near their homes, families and attorneys.

Well..that comment was from an ACLU attorney, I am sure the Fed's don't care much about housing immigrants near their families
