Default Im sorry

I am truly sorry for scaring you all, this was the news i got at the time and felt it was very important, when i was at the camp Monday the desk guard told me that (and take no offence) it was a mexican gang fight and yes then number was closer to six and he would NOT confirm if they died or not.
Please accept my apologies.

Well I think this is coming down to a normal lockdown, it's only been 4 days and I know that they have been usually around this or maybe a day or two longer....Whatever was posted from the talk radio is prob accurate, so by going from that there was a fight, but we don't know who was involved...Take a breath and relax a bit, I am sure it's standard lockdown, short of staff due to the holidays and so forth, I am sure they are taking precautions to calm things down a bit and until they get more staff back...

This was posted in another area from another member, but I thought I would put it in here as well....Thanks Zelda....

The federal prison in Pollock remains on lockdown today, Jan. 3, after several inmates were injured in a fight at the prison over the weekend..

An official today said one inmate remains hospitalized from injuries suffered in the fight, which broke out shortly before noon Saturday in the maximum-security area of the prison. About 15 prisoners were involved in the melee.

You know, how is it that the guards didn't know any real answers either? I posted what my husband told me, and that was wrong too. (He talked to one of the guards on Sunday, the day AFTER this all took place). I know you didn't mean any harm by posting. We think what we hear from people on the inside or the guards is true, but we all know now that nothing is true until Zelda finds the article! (Which we greatly appreciate Zelda. Thank you for finding that.)
Let's all take a deep breath and pray that this doesn't happen again. If it does, we will know not to overreact and panic right away.
We are all in this together, ladies!
(if there was a "peace" icon, I'd post it.)

I think it's fine to post unofficial information that a prison is on lockdown - just not to speculate about the number or severeity of inmate injuries or deaths without some type of verified information. Because, without the post that the prison is on lockdown and inmates might be injured, I and others don't know to begin hunting for the details!! In this case, we never would have known if folks hadn't posted something unofficial first - trust me. The BOP likes to keep things quiet and secret, especially lockdown information. It only comes out if someone begins asking questions.

I am sure you didn't mean to cause distress to others. Like what Zelda said, the BOP likes to keep things quiet. We who have friends or family or loved ones in Pollock need to stick together.

Having said that, have anyone heard anything yet?

@Jennifer. It's OK. If I had heard something like that, I would have posted it too, to see if anyone could confirm it. Some people freak out more easily than others and everyone here is just trying to maintain and find out how their loved ones are doing inside. I think the moderator changed the initial title of the thread and that's O.K. too - after the facts came out. I actually thank you for being the first to post as that's what led to people finding out what happened. And a LOT of people found out as the article was reprinted in many newspapers across the country. And then newspapers printed articles about a death at Victorville prison too. It's kind of a "one upsmanship" among journalists, I think. Once someone realizes that what happens in federal prisons makes a good news story, the others follow suit - and we all stay more informed.

I was the Mod that changed the title. I'm sorry if my post came off a bit harsh. My suggestion going forward is just to post that there was an incident at the facility and a lock down was put in place and update as appropriate as news breaks. I certainly would want to know if my LO's facility went on lock down.

Have a good day everyone!

Here's the definition of "melee" according to Websters:

a confused struggle; especially : a hand-to-hand fight among several people

In short, all hell broke loose

It is, but honestly who knows what the truth is...It could be another week or two or a month, it's the BOP and every CO is different to the next, just like every unit has different rumors, so all we can do is wait I guess, but that was what he told me, so I hope it's sooner, but again who knows, just a little annoyed....

I'm sorry... I hope somehow it's "sooner" than another week. I can't even imagine. My thoughts are with you... Keep your chin up.

Thanks for the update!

Ugh it's so annoying that the behavior of a few gets the entire prison punished. Sucks.
