Is he going to the camp or FCI? At the FCI, there are quite a few inmates from Idaho and Montana, it seems. It's a pretty mellow place. Most likely, he'll self-surrender and then be placed over at the detention center for a few days, waiting for a bed space. So you may not hear from him for a few days or even a week.

It does get easier, once he's in the camp and has his phone calls and gets settled in. Some people go from the detention center to the camp in a couple of day - sometimes it's a couple of weeks. No way of knowing. Magazine Subscriptions can be sent by you purchasing it and, in the address area, you have to put the person's name and BOP # and the address for the camp: P.O. Box 6000, Sheridan, OR, 97378

What about electronics? Are they allowed to have their own TV? Does anyone know anything about clear gaming consoles? I hear some prisons, there's a state one in Arizona, that allows consoles but I'm not sure if it's the prisoner's or the jail's console.

Default Change at Sheridan FCI

Word is that the feds are sending 200 new inmates to Sheridan FCI in the next 10 weeks. They'll be triple bunking the 2-man cells. Wonder where they're coming from? Z.

Now they're saying "only" 150 new inmates. They're already at least 50 over capacity though.

Now I hear that Pekin inmates have been told the same thing - get ready for an influx of a lot of new inmates. Where are they all coming from???

Default Where are they coming from?

My penpal is suppose to be on his way to Sheridan soon. He is leaving Forrest City to attend the RDAP. He was told last week that he had been approved and such. He is excited to be getting a step closer to home. Not sure how he will feel about the triple bunking though. I have always thought "these are people not animals/sardines". Long before I ever dealt with anyone in prison.

Well, he'll get there just as the good weather is beginning. Is he going to the FCI or the camp?

Default Sheridan

I am not sure where he is going as of yet. I do not really understand this whole transferring thing. Why is the government willing to ship someone half way across the continent in order to treat them for something that should be treated in EVERY prison. Please do not get me wrong I want him out ASAP but as a tax payer I do not understand Uncle Sam. I know that I could not see me driving to New York to buy a dress from a store that is across the street from my house. Do they have access to EMAIL in those facilities. We have joked about being close enough to the ocean to taste the salt but never see a wave!

No email at Sheridan camp or FCI yet - but they have just installed the cable lines to have it... so... someday. Just found out the reason the BOP is overcrowding Sheridan is to make more RDAP spaces there. You're right - they should just establish RDAP in more facilities. But the BOP doesn't use common sense very much, as you will discover.

Question Questions about FCI Sheridan

Hi all!

My boyfriend is going to surrender to FCI Sheridan in April and we have SO many questions that I am hoping someone will be able to answer and ease our minds!

1. The probation report recommended RDAP and the judge approved it. From what I am reading, this doesn’t guarantee you a spot in this program. What are the waiting periods and what were your experiences with the program…? Does it always take 1 year off the sentence?
2. How do you get transferred to the Camp and how long does it take?
3. Can you call a cell phone #?
4. What are the politics in this prison? Are there a lot of gang problems?
5. We heard that you can buy protein and creatine is that true?

Thanks for the help and support!

Is he going to the FCI or the camp - do you know?? The wait times for RDAP vary and I know that they're starting to send a whole bunch more inmates to the FCI who are eligible for RDAP but don't know if they're expanding the RDAP classes. It's all up in the air right now. It also depends on length of sentence for priority to get into RDAP. I don't think they're getting the full year off usually.

If he's going to the camp and just reporting in at the FCI, usually it takes a few days to a week to get over there. Takes another week to get phone list approved. Yes, they can call a cell phone number.

No gang problems at the camp. Little gang problem at the FCI, though they are bringing in 150 additional inmates, so who knows.
Sheridan's a mellow place usually.

Don't know about protein and creatine. Z.

Default Sheridan Camp Commissary List

Curious if anyone has one from 2009? I found a 2007 on here, along with an older one from 2004.

I am going to be stuck in the camp for 14 months here soon, and I am trying to plan and make this as smooth as possible for my family. I tried to email and get one, but they said they do not have one in email form.

I see some prisons have a lot more items on their lists compared to the 2007 Sheridan list did. I am hoping blistex and ear plugs are available now, along with checking for any price changes.

You can post or email it to me. Thanks again

Default January 2009 Sheridan Camp Commissary List

My guy has been at the Sheridan Camp since January and sent me a copy of the commissary list so I can see what is available and what it costs. They don't have Blixtex, but do have Chapstick. And I know they have the earplugs because my guy had to get some because there is a major snorer across the way from him.

So just ask if you need to know anything more.

Default Sheridan Commissary List 1/1/09

I scanned the list (both sides) and can view it in my photo editing program by "zooming" it to make it large enough to read. I hope it works for you. I tried to send the attatchment as a private message, but didn't see a way to do that.

Does anyone know if each Federal Prison has a different commissary list and if they all carry the same items for the same price?

Thanks!

Protein, yes, in the form of powdered egg whites. Gang problems? not really, its such a chilll prison. I was there for a year before getting transferred to el paso texas. Sheridan is the nicest of the BOP prisons. If they want to transfer him anywhere other than the camp tell him to say no.
