Well i will answer the questions the best that i can. My man is at FCI Sheridan also, he is from CA so i don't know about the whole transferring thing. From what i have read on other posts, there is no care packages that can be sent to the prisoners. I have never heard of anything like that that can be sent at least. Maybe someone knows a little more but not to my knowledge. As far a sending money i don't know what JPAY is. I have used western union and sent it with the quick collect. i am not sure if there is other ways to do it but i think that on the website it says you can send it through there or with a money order and since you said a money order is not a possible then i think that western union is gonna be the way to go. If you have any other questions i can try to answer you can PM me and i will do my best. There are others on here that know a lot more so i'm sure you will get some better answers but i just didn't want to leave you hanging.

Yep - NO J-Pay and No care packages. You can order books for him through Powellsbooks.com or Amazon.com. You can order magazine subscriptions for him - just be sure to put his register number along with his name and address. Western Union Quick Collect might work for you - if you browse through some of the posts on this forum you can find the specific instructions for how to do that. Not everyone from Washington goes to Sheridan but many do because it is close by. Your nephew, if his family lives in California, might be requesting to be transferred to a federal facility in California. It's up to the BOP where the inmates are housed and it's according to their security level. Sheridan FCI is a medium security prison. Any other questions, just ask! Zelda

Thanks Zelda. I saw I should have read one of the other federal forums first! One of the ladies there mentioned Konmart. I checked with them yesterday and they added Sheridan to their list. I replied back and said I had been advised that Konmart wasn't affiliated with Federal. She assured me they were and had a rep. call there this morning to verify. I asked if that included inmate funds, she replied today that it included Funds, Letters, Photos, Books and begining next month magazine subscriptions. She did warn me that funds would take longer <5 to 7 days> than Western Union, but was significantly cheaper. Do you wire WU online? Do you think you would trust an order with konmart?

Nephew's family is in Spokane. Thanks again Zelda.

I didn't know Konmart sends funds but I do know they can't send inmate packages to the federal prisons. I just read on another post that a person DID use J-Pay, so you might check into that as well. The other idea might be, if you know someone in the U.S. who could purchase a U.S. postal money order and mail it to the Iowa Lockbox for you, after you send them the $. That would be the least expensive way to do it. Maybe someone here who lives in another country can share with you how they send money - post this question up above, in the general federal forum and they might see it. Maybe title your thread "Sending Commissary Money from another country?"

Thanks again Zelda, I'll do that, as soon as I check with Jpay. If I can use Jpay, that would truly be a blessing. I don't know how I would go about getting my son $$ from here without them, and he has it the next day.

I did look at the books they had at knomart and they are fairly cheap. I haven't ordered yet. I was waiting 'til the 1st of the month, so will try that today. I will let you know how that works out.

You can have companies mail in books - just not other things.

Default Sheridan Camp?

How many on here have loved ones at the Sheridan, OR camp? I have only seen a select few, and wondered if there might be more that don't post?

Been lonely here lately

Wow I just noticed people had responded back :-) My huney was transfered there a year ago from here in CA...I saw him in August....I have no idea when I'll be able to see him again...it is hard...but I had met a lady who's hubby is locked up there also...he man and mine ar enow buddies and she and I spent a couple days together...

So, the reason I was asking is I rarely see anyone on here talking about the camp...it would be nice to have others to talk to!!!

My husband may be getting transferred to Sheridan from Atwater for the RDAP program. Does anyone know how long it takes to get into the program once he's been transferred, and how much time they're getting off their sentences once in the program?

All info. is so appreciated!

I've heard that they are not getting the full 12 months off. The wait to get into the program depends upon how much time the inmate has left to serve. Those with earlier release dates get priority. Is he going to the FCI?

We've heard that because this Region (CA, OR, WA) is now taking RDAP accepted inmates, there is a back log line up to get in. We've heard my husband may be transferred to another part of the country due to it. Do you know which RDAP Camps across the country are giving close to the 12 months off once admitted into the program? We've heard FL, CO, AL...

Just a note - if your husband has any kind of gun enhancement, he'll want to stay in this region in order to get any time off, I believe.

He was told by his counselor today that transferring to another region is a possibility, as is getting into that facilities RDAP program. Yay! He's requested Englewood, Colorado. An inmate transferred there from Atwater in February just wrote another guy in Atwater and says he's getting 11.5 months off. Looks like my husband picked the right Camp :-)

I asked about Sheridan RDAP - apparently some inmates are getting the full 12 months off but it's not everyone. Englewood might be kinda full since they've sent a whole bunch of inmates from Waseca there this months - due to Waseca becoming a women's prison.

Hmm, thank you for the info. When you say you asked, who are you asking? It's so hard to get answers from anyone at any prison/camp.

Default SS coming too soon

My ex-husband, but very dear friend, will be SS on 11/12 to Sheridan. I don't see that much information posted but have sent him everything that I have read. Which has been much appreciated. His mother and I will be driving him to SS. We are driving from North Idaho. Anyone else from the Inland Northwest that could provide some support would be greatly appreciated.
I will miss him soooo much and our four year old son will too.
