Hi soulmate and Myshele,

Angola is a very interesting prison. My uncle was sent to Angola in 1963. He died there this past June. I've heard that at one time, it was second only to Alcatrez, as far as the inmate treatment. He told me many stores, and I never liked the prison. I did, however, love the spirit of the men I met. The men are treated better now.

My "soul mate" was transferred to Elayne Hunt several weeks ago. For him, the change was positive. We met 27 years ago, before he was sent to prison. Neither of us ever forgot the brief meeting, and feel it was destiny that we would meet again after so many years.

Since I now live in Texas, it cost over $ 18.00 to talk 45 minutes. I can drive to Hunt and back for a few dollars less, so I'm going to try and visit once a month. If anyone else is doing the same, and are interested, I wouldn't mind sharing a hotel room once a month.

Allen correctional center is located in Kinder Louisiana, somewhere in the Lake charles, Lafeyette area.I really can't tell you where, because when I go to visit I normally sleep through the whole ride.

Hi Rose,

Yes, I know where Kinder is. I was born in Lake Charles. My friend asked me to marry him this weekend. It's pretty scarey, but I think I'm going to say yes. : ]

Yes it is scary, rather if he was in the joint or out. My best advice is really and truly know what is in your heart and if this is a wise decision for you and that you can live with it till death do you part. And far as the I thnk part, once you do this the answer will be a YES YES YES.
Good Luck and God Bless both
of you

Thanks Rose,

I've tossed this around since he asked Saturday...in my head, I mean. He'll call Saturday, then I'll see him on the 4th. We're supposed to set a date then. Is it wise for me? I don't know. Wisdom has never been one of my strong points...but, I know what I feel when I hear his voice. I know what I feel when I see him... read his letters, share his dreams. ...till death do we part? I'm 52... If he can take it, I think I can. I've been alone for the past 14 years and he's been there for the past 11... I wish I knew if this was wise or not. I wish I felt more certain. But, maybe everyone feels this way.

My fiance is in JPCC (Jefferson Parsish Correctional Center) in Gretna, La... he has been in for almost a month and is waiting on his court date.... isn't looking so good. We were already engaged and planning our lives when he was arrested.

thanks for listening (or reading),
Jessica

Hey guys I was reading a biker mag. and seen a ad from a inmate who is in texas at the moment for the next 11 months but needs some help with parole in Louisiana,he asked for anyone to write him that can look up some stuff in your state. Here's his address.
Kenneth Chapman
634450
PO Box 1678
Cleveland Texas 77328
I wrote him and told him I would post this and maybe some one there will answer.
I think it has something to do with La.won't except his parole or ?? something to with the law in that state.

phelps is great once a month you have a picnic visit where you can cook for them and they have great programs where the inmates learn trades no prison is great but some are better than others and some of the programs offer good time which will mean an earlier release

Thank you lilmama. I apologise for the late response, but I just saw your post. He was in Angola for 11 years, so we were truly surpirsed when they transferred him. He had been recommended for a medical parole in Angola, but then he was transferred.

I am happy that your husband is coming home. I can only imagine your joy.

david was at hunt for a little oner a month , they moved him because he signed up for the youth offender program ,so he can go to school. it is a nice program,me and our baby get to go have a family session with him the chaplin and his teachers next week.we get to go on a tour of his dorm and everything. they say it is a family oriented program. plus we still get regular visits.
