The Junior story. 15 yr old got beat / sliced to his death. Ran to the hospital himself , everyone around watched this happen to him , 5 grown “men” did this this to him.

I'd have to say the Polly Klass murder. This was in my county and I had a child her age (tho he was a boy)
and the Zodiac killer. (also near us growing up) It was all over the news and scared alot of us.
Only other one was BTK. So glad he was caught.

I've always been fascinated with the JonBonet Ramsey case. I even bought a television off her brother one time off one of those "yard sale" sites. His email name shocked me and I had no idea at the time he was attending Purdue University, where I lived near and near where he wanted to do the exchange.

That being said, and the fact that I write a true crime blog, one that I read recently had the ability to shock me. A woman I work with mentioned that her daughter was murdered in 1995. I read the appeal papers and for the first time in a long time I literally gasped when I read it. A teenager (who she knew) and two young men lured her 15 yr old daughter to go with them. They drove her to a remote area, beat her, raped her, repeatedly ran over her with their vehicle and left her body to be found the next day.

The Jamie Bulger case, it haunted me as my son was the same age and looked similar. The fact that a toddler could be abducted murdered and tortured by other children was just horrendous.
Every mother knows the panic of losing sight of a child for a few moments , this was every mothers nightmare.

This was indeed shocking and very sad. I remember it being all over the news here ( I live in new York) and as everything unfolded I was more and more disgusted. Saddest thing is it's not even close to over.

Jacob Wetterling. It was so absolutely mind blowing that the case was solved and he was found. He was close to my age and his kidnapping felt like the end of the innocence for a lot of parents in our area.
