Default Looking for info on Yuma-Dakota

I know this has been a post before, but it was over a year ago, so could be the same or changed.

My BD just got moved there from Eyman- Browning Unit. He said that his program was over? He was at the least restricted Phase at Browning before he left.

I know that Dakota is a 4 yard, do they have phases as well? Will he have to start over? Is he still on 23 hr lock down?

His mom is in Mexico, and got used to getting a phone call 3 times a week, and she is worried she won't be getting them as much. She's also worried that it might be less restriction, he will get into trouble being around people more often. He was a single cell in Eyman.

Thank you!

Yuma Dakota is a 4 yard and he'll be in a 2 man cell with a lot more freedom than he had at Browning. They have rec time and day rooms where they can watch tv and such but they are still locked down a bit more than a medium yard. Phases are state wide in every facility. He will not have to re-start his phase so if he was a phase 3 at Browning he'll still be a phase 3. The only thing that affects phase is disciplinary infractions. Getting to a phase 3 means 1 full year without ticket, in short. He should be able to call his mom daily if he wants, as long as the yard isn't on lock down.

Oh okay cool! Since they have day rooms, does that mean his phone calls are no longer on a schedule? Pretty much he can call when ever they aren't in their cells?

I'm not sure where the phones are located at Dakota...on most yards they are on the rec field so when they are released for rec they can go use the phone. So...it will still be on a schedule. He'll get the swing of things as far as schedule goes in the first week. Many times there is a line to use the phone, so especially in the summer standing out there can really suck.

In case someone else comes here for more info -
Recently, I've found out that they are on lockdown for 22hours of the day.
Rec time has been early morning and afternoon. They have a portable prison phone (not cell phone, totally legal) they pass around so also depending on when that comes around and if the battery isn't dead, they can call from there cells even past 8pm.

My son is at Yuma Dakota. He is phase 3 and due to be released in one month. He can make 2 phone calls a day, but sometimes it's hard to get to the phone. They can only use it at rec time. But then recently they started a thing where no one can make phone calls until everyone is done with showers. So there's times I go a day or so without getting a phone call. It stresses me out when I don't hear from him every day

I haven't heard of the shower thing from my man. He calls at anytime of the day when he can get the phone inside cause he doesn't like going outside in the heat. Calls twice a day, every day.
Glad your son gets out of there soon.
