I can't say which one is my favorite because they all made me cry. I miss my guy so much I think about him every day. We have one son together and I'm pregnant again with his daughter. The last letter I wrote him I told him about being pregnant after about 5pages. He wasn't thrilled the first time but he wanted a girl pretty badly. He was there for our son's birth which was a shock enough but now he's going to be missing our daughter's birth.... I really wish I knew what was in store for us as a family in the future....

Thank you again for the poems. I hope to read more as I deep further into PTO.

" Seven-Day Program"

A seven-day program, seven days a week
This is my routine which falls throughout the week

Mondays in the morning I think about the past,
wonderful memories too good to have last

Tuesday I try to think and debate;
will you stand by my side, will you hold out and wait?

Wednesday I think about the future to come,
hoping you'll be there when my time is all done.

Thursday I write you to tell you I'm fine,
hoping you'll write back to say you're still mine.

Friday I'm hoping I might use the phone
to tell you I love you and wish I were home.

Saturday is the day I hope to give back
wishing for a visit in hopes you'll be back--
with hope still alive I dwell on the fact
of our love, our lives, we'll soon cross paths.

Sunday is the sabbath day, I take off and pray
to thank the heavens above for sending you my way.

Now the week has passed, Sunday comes to an end
but I wait towards tomorrow, when I start over again...

He put a note on the end, calling this poem a prisoner's dream that can't and won't ever be... he is a lifer who recognizes that his chances of ever having a relationship are next to nothing. Pray for those who are incarcerated, if you are a person of prayer, and thanks for reading this.

This poem is beautiful and tragic and so near to the truth of life behind bars... This poem needs to be brought back to present day for it is timelessness...
