Yes he can still recieve his mail. he can also write mail. As far as how long hes in for is what dr he got in the first place. They have to take him to what they call court within 7 days of him being in confinement to tel him how long he will be in the hole. Good luck and keep us posted!!

My husband was thrown there last Wednesday. The CO turned the phone off while we were talking (around 9pm). I heard (by other inmates' wife's) that my husband asked why they turned the phone off and told them that they were ridiculous and the next thing you know he's in the box.
you have to wait until he has his DR hearing and then they can do what ever they like.
I talked to his Classifications officer and she told me that they have 7 working days to give him a hearing.
You know they waited 6 days to give my baby a hearing! And now he has to serve 30 days for it.
He's in medical now and they wont tell me anything. I can understand that you may be frustrated! I am too! its been 2 weeks since I've talked to him. Thank God I had a sympathetic nurse today that said he was going to tell my hunny that I called. 'cause you know I call there EVERYDAY!!!!! just waiting for someone to get tired of me calling and give me information! Hang in there. He'll call! and yes, he can get mail while in the box.

I am sorry you have to go through this. I bet his hearing will be Tuesday, since Monday is a government holiday, and I bet he doesn't get much, if all it was - was him mouthing off a little. Cathy, Phil and I feel your pain, don't we gang? Phil is the leader of confinement policies LOL

Jeff's wife

I'm sorry for this. The other already gave you very good answers as to what can be done and not while he's in confinement.

He will be able to write you, but keep in mind that they FIRST throw them in the hole, THEN, they give them their personal belongings. So you might exspect for a letter a little bit longer than usual if he hasn't got his stamps and stationary (sp?).

He will not be allowed to call you.

Hang in there, we're here for you.

Phil

if you're lucky babe they'll count those days toward whatever he gets - so if he got 30 days in the hole, he would have just 21 left. however, if they dismiss the DR, he's spent 9 days or however long in there for nothing. then again, it's ALL for nothing. I feel your pain. Hang in there, it'll be over soon, honestly.

Hey I'm sorry to hear he's in the hole. I'm a part of the confinment group as well. My man went to the hole Jan. 15, 2004 and will probably be there until Jan. 30, 2005. Hang in there it does get better especially if he only get's a little time. Hopefully for something like you said he won't get much or hopefully none at all.
Just a little advice though no matter how rude they get or seem like they could care less about your questions and telling you anything, by all means keep ya head with them. I have a short fuse and where my man was at before they thought they could talk to me any way they wanted. I finally snapped one day and had a few choice words for one. Luckily they didn't take it out on him but ya never know when they will. I know this is stressful believe me I do, just be calm with them. they will eventually tell you whats going on.

Oh and you will be able to send him paper, stamps and envelopes as well. Only a book of 20 stamps, 10 sheets paper and 5 envelopes at a time, well in one mail packet you send to him. He will be able to buy those things from confinement just not much else, like the comfort items like snacks and things like that.

Hang in the and keep us posted we've all been through it, some still going through it. But we are all here for each other.

why did they suspend your visits? were ya'll talking about something on the phone, or what? i've never heard of visits being ended like that - there had to be something off-limits about the phone call. I don't mean to be nosey, i'm really asking because whatever it was, I don't want to do it! know what i mean? i'm glad they counted his time already in. that's something. i'm sorry you lost your visits, 90 days is a long time

Mary

Isn't it a normal rule when they get a D/R ??? If I do remember well, last time Joey had one ( 5 minutes ago ), he was sent to the hole for 30 days, and his visit were suspended for 90 days. I'm not quite sure, but I think they lose their visit priviledge for 3 times the total amount of days they are sent to the hole.

Anybody else knows for sure ?????

Phil

When my guy got his DR, he got 30 days, lost 60 days gain time and lost the ability to earn any for six months, but nothing with the visits. Except of course while he was in the hole. But Phil I'm sure you're right, come to think of it. I guess they have the option of taking them. WAH.

Actually, when I was in Florida last March and couldn't visit him because of this stupid D/R they gave him one week prior to my arrival, I remember he mentionned his visits were suspended for 90 days. I just thought it was a normal rule.

Cathy FL should know, since Anthony got a D/R not so long ago.

I haven't heard that either. When my man got his D/R's before this major one I always got to see him again. The one in Nov. he got out and I visited the following weekend.

I don't know how I forgot to mention about the stamps were they are the same as currency since I just sent him 3 books. He just can't live with out his coffee!!

Sorry to hear he got some time. Send him some puzzle sheets. Some thing else my man and I are doing now since he's got so much time. I took the ideas from the PTO game room, the "either/or" and "ask a question answer a question" we've already got three pages done front and back. It's fun and another way for us to continue to learn about the other since we can't see or talk to each other right now.

Hang in there and feel free to PM me if it gets too much for ya at times. I truly know it's hard at first.

jeffswife, sorry for the confusion, i was meaning Chuloswife when I referred to the phones. It doesn't take much for me to get mixed up about everybody's situations but no matter, they are all a shame! We hate confinement!

Its not a normal rule to get visit suspensions when they get a dr unless you have done something when your visiting.I have never seen this over a phone call. I have been through this about 8 times with anthony being in the hole most being when he first got in prison but 3 times the last yr for bogus ones but anyway no ive never heard of loosing visiting time when they have gone to the hole.At least i have never lost anytime i have always been able to see him the weekend after he gets out of the hole...I agree with MTCONTRARY about the loss of gain time and ability of not to get anymore for a time period

I understand when your love ones get put in the hole. My son was put in so many times when he first went in that after the 3rd one I stopped worring so much about him. He Knows the rules. But were he is at now they make their own rules. Tell your love ones to give someone their pin and number to call to let you know about them. I use to get a call from one of my sons partners at lest once a week while he was in confindment. They can write and read. My son wrote poems. They can use the time to get in touch with theirselves not complain about it, use the time to be constutive.

My man does the same thing. He gives my number and his pin to one person and one person only that he trustes to call me periodically. He doesn't have them call all the time cause people at the prison he was at before got in trouble for doing this as well.

But we all hate confinement. And like Cathy's Anthony my man is no stranger to bogus DR's. this time around he was guilty on 3 of them then they just kept writing more cause he wouldn't snitch on another inmate and officer.

I agree with Blue Angel and we have been using this time constructively. He has some personnal issues he's been coming to terms with and me, well I've gotten my phone bill down and 2 credit cards paid off and money in my savings account!! So in a way this has been worth it. Painfull and I miss him but we are both looking at the good that has come out of it.

I know that I am completely out of line with my question here... I am sorry but I was wondering already for a long time what D/R stands for and since so many of you used it in this thread I thought you might answer my question!

Thank you a lot!!!! And sorry again for being out of line!

Thank you spikeswife!!!! I finally have one word off my list!

Well, I don't know if my man never had a DR before I've met him... But he surely didn't get any since I'm with him!

Thanks again!

My guy is in confinement also and has been since 7-3-04, he was sentenced to 45 days at court for his actions. He gets no visits or calls while in there. He still is able to write and receive letters. I know that he said most of his stuff was put into storage while in the hole and they can't receive books (like from barnes and noble, even if religious), per the place he is at. He tells me to send alot of stamps. Since they can't go to the canteen, that is how they survive back there. Just be strong and give him lost of support, he needs it. At the same time hold your own head up high, I know I will.
