Question How do inmates get home if family or friend can't pick them up??

Hello, Im new to this so far I learned if I want to send money I can through Access Corrections and the phone service South Bay use is ICSolutions. I have a couple questions if someone could answer that would be great . My husband was moved from Jacksonville Detention center to RMC to South Florida Reception and is currently at South bay which is 4 to 6 hours away. If family or friends can't pick up an inmate how do they get home? How long does it take for them to receive mail?

I can help with the mail question. For me and my LO, it's taken anywhere from 3-10 days fpr mail. Most of the time it's around the 4 day mark from when I mail it out.

....and as for getting home, inmates are typically given a bus ticket if they have no ride home. Bus tickets are normally required to be requested in advance.

In they will bus you home. But some of the prisons are in such remote area's that I think they'd transfer the inmate to a reception center closer to home. I don't know really anyone who took a bus home. It's a good question for his case manager.

When my son was in the first time, his CO, called and made sure that I was going to be there to get him or she was going to put him on the bus.

I would hope so but with FDOC I have no clue anymore. Also like I said I never had to pick up anyone.

I think they will give you a greyhound bus ticket and drop you off at the nearest station. It used to be if you had no money on your books for 30 days they would give you $100.00. I think that amount is now down to $75.00, bear in mind if you don't have street clothes in your property they will charge you for pants shirt underwear shoes etc. from that money.

One more question Is it worth buying him a care package? Or is it better to just send him money? I tried asking my husband but our call ended He did tell me the prison is nicer than others it has AC, its clean, but he hates how they do canteen. I was so happy to hear his voice I forgot to ask him other questions Im so grateful to hear he will be home in October.

I've done both. There are some things that are available on the packages that are not availablen on canteen, so that is mostly what I got. And he get whatever he wants with the money. The prices are same as far as I can tell, you do however, pay shipping/processing fees with the packages, and I dont know about canteen (do they pay taxes?)
